The Power of Candlesticks... 📊 

Two weeks ago, in my post, "The Bears are growling on NVIDIA," I pointed out the large bearish engulfing on the stock. 

Three days ago, we hit the double top.

Candlestick trading, an ancient method tracing its roots back to 18th century Japan, has emerged as a formidable tool in modern financial markets. With its origins in rice trading, this technique has transcended time, evolving into a sophisticated method for analyzing market sentiment and predicting price movements.

The essence of candlestick trading lies in its ability to encapsulate vast amounts of market data into concise visual representations. Each candlestick on a chart represents the price action of a specific time period, typically opening, closing, high, and low prices. 

The shape and color of these candlesticks convey valuable information about the psychology of market participants.

The popularity of candlestick trading has surged in recent years, driven by its effectiveness in identifying key market patterns and trends. Traders and analysts alike have recognized its potential to enhance decision-making processes and improve trading outcomes. 

Moreover, advancements in technology have made candlestick charts more accessible to a broader audience, fueling its widespread adoption.

One of the most powerful patterns in candlestick trading is the double top formation, which signals a potential reversal of an uptrend. 

This pattern occurs when the price reaches a high point, retraces, then revisits the same level before declining. It signifies a battle between buyers and sellers, with the inability to surpass previous highs indicating weakening bullish momentum.

When coupled with a double bearish engulfing pattern, the significance of the double top formation intensifies. A bearish engulfing pattern occurs when a large bearish candle engulfs the previous smaller bullish candle, suggesting a shift in sentiment from bullish to bearish. 

In the context of a double top formation, a double bearish engulfing confirms the resistance level and reinforces the likelihood of a trend reversal.
The ramifications of a double top complemented by a double bearish engulfing can be profound for traders and investors. 

It serves as a warning signal for those who may be holding long positions, prompting them to consider exiting or taking profits. Additionally, aggressive traders may capitalize on the emerging downtrend by initiating short positions or implementing hedging strategies to mitigate potential losses.

News of insider selling may also be the culprit.

Time to make the Donuts... 🍩 

Krispy Kreme (DNUT) gets Nationwide deal with McDonalds. 

Krispy Kreme doughnuts will soon become available at McDonald’s locations across the country. “The top request we receive from consumers, every day, is, ‘please bring Krispy Kreme to my town,’” said Krispy Kreme President and CEO Josh Charlesworth. 

“Partnering with McDonald’s on a national scale will provide our fans and doughnut lovers unprecedented daily access to fresh doughnuts and the joy that is Krispy Kreme.”

This is a game changer for them. I hate Dunkin' Donuts. They're always stale or blandish. If I can get a Krispy Kreme or 2 at my local Mickey D's then I'm all in. 

The stock broke out of a multiyear range. 

A decent number of shares short means the squeeze is on.

Could DNUT also turn into a meme stock?

A TV Personalities' AI Gambit... 

Over 40% of S&P 500 companies now mention AI in their annual reports to the SEC, a notable increase from sporadic mentions in 2018. Various companies like CarMax and CVS emphasize their AI use in business strategies, while others warn about risks like competition and security threats. 🤖 

The SEC, led by Chair Gary Gensler, is closely monitoring these discussions. Gensler and others caution against misleading claims about AI, known as AI-washing, which could result in legal repercussions. 

Companies could face trouble if the SEC finds they haven't adequately disclosed AI-related risks to investors, similar to actions taken against climate and cybersecurity disclosures.

Experts advise companies to prioritize AI disclosures in SEC reports to avoid regulatory issues.

Let's see if flailing CNBC reporter Ron Insana will explain his black box AI magic to investors along with the risks. 

His new company will "try" to crack the code of integrating artificial intelligence and investing, and it will be mostly focused on helping individual traders make buy and sell decisions.

In the CNBC interview, the IBM guy says IFI will make recommendations then later on Insana says they won't. These guys and their word salads.

This is what AI washing is all about. The deception of AIs proposed capabilities to tell the future prices of stocks.

What happens if his AI starts to hallucinate? Are traders protected against that?

By the way, if he can find an AI model that beats the market over time, it will be the first of its kind. Color me skeptical.
