Designer dedicated to a brand new scrum team, influencing the way UX is done at AmFam through process shifts and design language system updates, as well as accessibility advocacy. Enriched the experience of MyAmFam customer accounts through improving notifications, program enrollment, and onboarding. Led a design sprint (workshop) on hard stops for all of retention, pioneering the workshop format and spreading it throughout the organization using the aforementioned one as a case study.

UX Designer

iHeartMedia

Primary designer for two teams, creating interfaces and designing interactions for internal software experiences and owning the design language system. My first project has been redoing how advertising orders are searched for; not only did I replicate the existing experience, I improved it by adding a query builder and simplifying the method for searching while adding a lot of functionality in an intuitive, aesthetically pleasing package that follows the iHeartMedia Design Language System. This design is based on several rounds of usability testing, including 5-second tests, guerilla tests, and large-scale usability studies a la Steve Krug. 
For the aforementioned design language system, I am spearheading the tokenization of our color themes and developing a darkmode while also being our primary accessibility advocate. This work will create a universal method to seamlessly swap between dark, light, and accessibility palettes on any iHeartMedia product without redesigning anything; we'll just flip a switch and the color palettes will change like magic.

The Bellingham Makerspace

I consulted with Bellingham Makerspace during a tumultuous time to save it from closing through fundraising, community relationships, and representing the organization in external meetings and on social media. I also assisted in a redesign and simplification of the website, ensuring relevant information was always at the forefront. 

- Maintained and updated homepage for the Makerspace, ensuring relevant content was always present at the forefront.
- Maintained connections between Makerspace and like-minded community organizations as a founding representative of inspirED, a group dedicated to building community among various non-scholastic educational institutions, such as museums, summer camps, and community education programs.
- Created and provided feedback on marketing material, both print and digital, including flyers, event invitations, event promotional content (social media posts), revised grant letters, and Mailchimp emails.
- Administered social media and other digital marketing and relationships including, Instagram, Facebook (group and page), Twitter, Mailchimp, WordPress, digital ads through local newspaper and other local publications.

As the sole member of the UX team, I took my role of user advocate very seriously and provided input on all aspects of company hardware and software. I also managed the company web presence, including the website and social media, and created new organizational practices such as formalizing the sales funnel. 

- Implemented UX research practices, performing iterative user testing, reporting on results, and teaching other staff how to perform their own research and act on findings.
- Recommended ergonomic updates to hardware products, assisting in prototyping and advocating for users at every turn.
- Selected to translate assigned elementary project goals for large events (conventions) facing a short execution window and delivered innovative, beautiful designs on budget and on deadline.
- Created the Customer Sales Funnel, customer relations, and Customer Reporting Tracking documentation/methodologies.
- Prepared weekly marketing analytics (Google analytics) reports. 
- Executed complete web presence facelift, administering the result, including the website.
- Administered social media including Instagram, Twitter, Mailchimp, WordPress LinkedIn; administered other marketing relationships including local technical organizations, conventions etc. 
- Staffed tables at conferences of all sizes, forming key relationships with industry partners.

Product Usability and Marketing Mangager

The Foundry, Bellingham's Makerspace

I volunteered with the Makerspace as a manager of both their digital systems and volunteer base, overhauling both in order to increase ease of use and improve volunteer training and retention. I accomplished this through a deep reexamination and redesign of their web presence and branding, internal systems, and by instituting a formal, regular volunteer training. 

- Redesigned website flow and visuals to simplify user interactions and ensure relevant information was easy to find, resulting in a large decrease in phone calls asking for information. 
- Created full digital brand identity, including font, color, and document templates based on logo and industry best practices.
- Instituted check-in forms that were both simple to use yet effective at gathering relevant information.
- Managed organization’s volunteer base and served as primary point of contact for all volunteers and external organizations.  
- Functioned as a liaison between Board of Directors and the volunteer base including reporting on behalf of the volunteers.
- Overhauled volunteer acquisition and training resulting in 3x the retention and better-trained volunteers.
- Created and documented anti-discrimination and Diversity & Inclusion policies, new safety and training protocols.

I managed a team of 5 developers and was the UX professional, instituting our UI/UX practices while being the strongest user advocate. I also led the company in formalizing our agile practices (based on Scrum and Kanban), all the while serving as the link between clients and my development team, translating client requirements into development goals. The team was a disparate group of part-timers, as we were all working while also studying full time, so I created communication methods to ensure project success and got experience with working remotely. 

- Created personas for projects, ensuring developers would keep user goals in mind during development.
- Implemented weekly User Experience testing sessions with walk-in participants.
- Taught developers how to iterate designs based on research findings.     
- Managed team of 5 developers in a company of 13 individuals.  Oversaw HR tasks, including reviews and hiring, user testing, client prospecting, and contacting. 
- Scheduled project meetings on behalf of multiple stakeholders, including project inception/monthly updates.
- Managed multiple calendars, coordinated and negotiated for time slots with busy team members 
- Implemented Agile Methodology practices (Scrum and Kanban)
- Identified dynamic queues of administrative and/or project tasks/steps organized based on priority and deadlines, turning client requirements into digestible steps for developers to accomplish by a set deadline.
- Identified and tracked details of multiple projects with varying completion dates
- Instituted daily and weekly reporting methods and organized client reporting, and created monthly status reports for the projects my team worked on.

Senior Project Manager

USAA

I worked on two projects while at USAA, one as a full member of the design team and one intern project (linked below). Though I can't go into specifics on the former, I performed as a full member of the design team, interfacing with development and business teams to gather requirements and planning the decision flow for the project together, then separately created UX personas to base mobile and web designs in multiple iterations that were tested externally and iterated on all summer. 

- Solicited project requirements from business and tech stakeholders and turned them into actionable design goals with a vision (and visual) to each.
- Identified and tracked detail of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
- Participated as a full member of an Agile-run design team (custom Scrum).
- Created preliminary designs for company web pages and apps, evolved from user stories based on aforementioned requirements.
- Performed remote user testing on designs and iterated work based on findings.
- Generated project designs through full HCI life cycle, from initial decision mapping through whiteboarding to iterative designs and landing on initial prototype.
