I haven’t built something end-to-end in a while. Not because I lost the itch But because I took on leadership roles. As Head of Product or Chief of Staff, you’re still building… But you’re orchestrating. Delegating. Zooming out. You’re not in the trenches, coding overnight, chasing flow like you did in university. And I miss that. I miss the clarity of a single problem. The high of late-night breakthroughs. The satisfaction of turning nothing into something — with your own two hands. So I’m giving myself a new challenge. This weekend, I’ll pick a passion project to sprint on. Right now? I’m leaning toward solving a problem that’s been in my face for years: Disjointed health data. Five apps. Five signals. No clear story. No real direction. I don’t want another tracker. I want clarity. Let’s see what happens when you mix vibe coding with personal frustration

Hit publish. Send the pitch. Start the thing you can’t stop thinking about.

Repetition is the shortcut no one wants to take.

You’re not building for everyone. You’re building for the person who cares. That’s the difference between noise and legacy. Too many products are stitched together with trend-chasing and cheap hacks — the digital equivalent of plywood on the back of a chest of drawers. Nobody sees it. But you know it’s there. And so does your product. Real builders obsess over the invisible. The parts users don’t notice — but feel. The polish in the code. The elegance in the UX. The intention behind every decision. Why? Because they’re not building for mass approval. They’re building for craft. You don’t need market validation to do your best work. You need standards. If you wouldn’t use it… If you wouldn’t buy it… If you wouldn’t wake up excited to improve it… Why are you shipping it? Make something you're proud of. Even if no one sees the back.

I went down a rabbit hole trying to get the whole “vibe coding” trend. Former engineer. Product guy. Been in the weeds of systems and scale. But this? This hit different. The blend of aesthetic, flow, and creative expression through code… It felt like building and journaling at the same time. I think I’m in love. Might spin up a sprint passion project soon. No pressure. Just play. Just vibes. And here’s what makes it magical: 🧠 Micro-superpowers that turn late-night tinkering into shipped products: – A clear constraint – A beautiful front-end – A fast feedback loop – A reason to keep going Keep vibin’. Exciting things ahead.

There was a time I filtered everything I said. I’d write a post, then delete half of it. Hold back the opinion. Soften the truth. Make it more “acceptable.” Why? Because I didn’t want to lose followers. I didn’t want to be misunderstood. I wanted approval, not impact. But here’s what I’ve learned: Authenticity repels before it attracts. It pushes away the wrong people, so the right ones can find you. When I stopped trying to be palatable... When I said what I actually think... When I showed up as I am, not as I was expected to be... Everything changed. The comments hit deeper. The DMs got real. The right people leaned in Not because I was perfect, but because I was clear. Clarity is a filter. Truth is a magnet. And realness? That’s the whole strategy. So today, if you’re building a brand, writing online, or just figuring out who you are: Say what you mean. Stand for something. Be the person you’d trust. The rest is noise.

Everyone's buying courses. Everyone's using AI. Few are getting results. Why? Because your edge isn’t more info. It’s discernment. You don’t need another tactic. You need to think like a VC: Vet the teacher Match the method to your moment Ignore what’s not aligned Most people scale noise. You? Build clarity.

There was a study on elite violinists. Same training. Same hours. But the top performers? They didn’t practice more They rested better. 90 minutes of deep work. Then intentional recovery. Pro athletes do the same. Lebron James spends over $1.5M/year on recovery -> ice, sleep, massage, mindset. Novak Djokovic credits his dominance to meditation and fasting. Even Navy SEALs prioritize strategic disengagement to sustain high performance. But in entrepreneurship? Burnout is worn like a badge. "Sleep is for the weak." "Outwork everyone." That’s not discipline. That’s delusion. Here’s the truth: Quality time off → Quality time on. Stillness is the pre-work. Recovery is the multiplier. Your mind is an engine, not a machine. You can’t write clearly if you never unplug. You can’t build brilliance if you’re always wired. If you want peak performance. Think like a pro. Block your deep work. Protect your off hours. Make boredom a feature, not a bug. Your best ideas won’t come mid-scroll. They’ll come mid-walk. Mid-silence. Mid-recovery. Rest is not a weakness. It’s a weapon.

You want it all. That’s the problem. You want the startup freedom and the corporate paycheck. The fit body and the easy lifestyle. The deep relationship and the endless options. You want to pick a path, but keep the perks of the ones you didn’t take. This is how we manufacture our own misery. A friend recently asked me, “Should I be with someone ambitious, nurturing, or someone who builds with me?” My answer: Pick one. Own the trade. You don’t get all upsides. Every door you walk through means ten others close. And if you stand there forever, afraid to choose, guess what you get? None. We don't suffer because life is bad. We suffer because our expectations are impossible. We expect our job to be meaningful, flexible, and pay top dollar. We expect our partner to be a lover, a best friend, a therapist, a cofounder, a chef, and a yogi. We expect to live 10 lives, in one lifetime, with no tradeoffs. But here’s the reframe that helps me: “Not wanting something is as good as having it.” Every time I drop an unrealistic expectation, I gain freedom. Every time I accept a trade, I stop spinning. Want peace? Try this formula: High commitment. Low expectations. It’s not sexy. But it works. — Curious: What’s one trade you’ve made that was worth it?

This is my first Father’s Day, and I’ve never felt more like a man. Our generation of fathers is different. We’re not just providers. We’re present. Dads today spend 3–4x more time with their kids than their fathers did. That’s not just a stat, that’s a signal. A signal that we’re breaking cycles. That we’re rewriting the script. That we’re showing up. And the data is clear: When fathers are engaged Cognitive development improves. Boys act out less. Girls feel safer emotionally. But this isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. It’s about being the man your child will thank one day Not for being flawless… But for being there. If you’re a dad reading this: Your effort matters. Your love matters. Your presence echoes across generations. And if you had to become the father you never had That’s power. That’s growth. That’s legacy. Happy Father’s Day to the men doing the work On themselves, and for their families.
