Men cut from different cloth, with different stories, and roads that don’t normally cross.

Yet here we are, shoulder to shoulder,

I prayed for my wife, grateful for her patience, 
for the grace she shows me 
when I fall short.

For my kids, that they’d have courage in a world that tries to pull them away from who God made them to be.

For my community, asking that I’d love well, lead humbly, and not just when it’s easy.

I confessed my pride, my impatience, 
my habit of trying to control outcomes I was never meant to hold.

I named the struggles that keep me up at night, the doubts I don’t always say out loud.

This kind of prayer, unsanitized, collective, does something.
It humbles.
It heals.
𝘐𝘵 𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴.

And on this day, it unfolded against the backdrop of Oracle’s shoreline.

On one side, glass towers and venture capital dreams.

On the other, five men in quiet surrender, voices carried on Bay winds.

Two worlds.
One gathering.
A collision of ambition and humility, of 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘳.

For a moment, heaven felt near,
not in some distant cathedral,
but here, in the open air,

Most of the time when I talk about Hawaii, it’s about visiting the islands, beautiful beaches, warm air, long drives, slow talk.

𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦.

Marky Wilson and Temari Wilson from BurdenEase Bookkeeping were in the Bay visiting family. Before catching the famous seals at Pier 39, they joined us for church.

That morning wasn’t about business.

No proposals.
No numbers.
No talk of growth plans or AR cycles.

That’s what the old shirts said.

All block letters and bravado.
Worn by guys who thought pain was a myth and vulnerability was for poets.

I used to believe it, too.
Back when I thought being fearless meant being untouchable.

Stoic. 
Cold. 
Sharp around the edges.

But the older I get, the more I realize.
It was never about 𝙣𝙤 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧.
It’s about 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧, and walking in anyway.

𝘍𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘶𝘱. 𝘈𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴.

When the doctor calls back.
When payroll’s due and the numbers don’t add up.
When your kid looks at you, searching for an answer you don’t have.
When you wonder if this version of you is still enough.

Fear isn’t weakness.

The people I admire now…
