I originally chose teaching as a career to make a difference and work with young people helping them shape their future. After 17 years I decided to move on and try my hand at a new challenge by joining the EdTech industry. During my teaching carrier I've been lucky to have had many opportunities to develop skills needed in and out of the classroom. Developing and implementing new schemes. Planning and delivering appropriate lessons Developing and managing databases for assessments. Managing data collated. Leading coaching with in the department. Mentoring and coaching trainee teachers leading and managing change due to curriculum changes. developing and managing assessment opportunities Evaluating data and implementing intervention strategies to support students and trainee teacher. Since joining Avantis, I’ve been part of the Educational services team working in researching and developing the product for teachers and learners. From content design, development and testing, I have been an integral part in the shaping of the platform. Working closely with experienced teachers and 3D designers, I have contributed to developing many VR experiences, particularly for science, with the aim in supporting teachers deliver learning that breaks down conceptual barriers for students, which included training. More recently taking some lead in the workflow, the development of digital learning resources in VR has been an amazing journey.
