I have worked in the accounting and audit profession for more than forty years, starting before the computer and photocopier became commercially viable and were even invented. I have worked for more than twenty-five audit and accounting firms, most of which have amalgamated with another firm or firms over the years. I have also been a registered and practicing auditor for about twenty of those years, and a registered Chartered Accountant after passing the qualifying examinations. The Chartered Accountant designation had many rules and regulations which restricted the newer members from making any headway, you were restricted from advertising or actively looking for clients, this has now changed somewhat.
