Although they vary depending on the specific design of each aircraft, they are generally designed to allow rapid evacuation in emergency situations, such as fires, cabin depressurization, or any other situation that requires rapid crew exit. These exits are usually strategically located to ensure that the crew can evacuate the cockpit safely and efficiently.

Optimal grip has been called the pinnacle of selecting work gloves. It’s critical in almost any industry you can think of: construction, assembly work, repair and overhaul, light engineering and service, recycling and waste management, plastics and textile manufacturing, warehousing, small component assembly, packing and inspection, and landscaping. Poor grip can lead to a host of problems:
*Hand fatigue from overexertion (a major factor in limiting work performance)
*Musculoskeletal injuries from repeated hand overexertion (there are 35 muscles that control movement in your forearm and hand)
*Objects being dropped or slipping through the hands, potentially injuring other parts of your body or co-workers
*Transferring muscle exertion from the hand to other parts of the body to compensate
*Increased risk of cuts
Lack of hand hygiene
*Dermatological risks to the skin
*Loss of control over work
*Productivity loss due to slowing down to compensate for a poor grip
*Other considerations

Of course there’s more to hand protection than glove grip. You need to think about dexterity, mobility, sensitivity, tactility, durability, comfort, flexibility, and performance (such as chemical-resistance, impact protection, and cut and abrasion protection). 

You also need to consider work conditions: oily, greasy, wet, soapy, and dry work environments, as well as working with chemicals or precision manufacturing. Different work requires different types of gripping gloves.

I'd say that makes a pretty good case for the benefits of wearing high-visibility clothing in work zones and especially at night. 

That sprinkled with a little situational awareness could go along way.

Whether you are operating heavy equipment on a construction site or repairing a pothole on the highway, you are bound to be exposed to potentially harmful working conditions. Wearing high-visibility (hi-vis) apparel on the job is essential to remain visible to those around you.

Hi-vis is a type of PPE that has highly reflective properties which help reduce the risk of worker injury or fatality by allowing motorists and equipment operators to see workers in low-light or dark environments. Our eyes respond best to large, contrasting or bright objects. Therefore, the high color contrast between hi-vis clothing and the background it is against enhances worker visibility.

Working on roadways or around heavy machinery can be especially dangerous. According to the CDC, fatal work-related injuries at roadway construction sites average 123 worker deaths per year. In 2021 alone, there were 762 fatal crashes with 842 fatalities.These figures only speak to deaths; they do not even begin to incapsulate workers and citizens who were simply injured in work zone or machinery-related accidents.

Unducted Fans Are Back - And Why? Are we about to witness a new age in aero engine technology? Perhaps; GE has resurrected the propfan aircraft engine, cutting fuel burn by 20%.

GE & Safran's CFM is producing the prototype engines, where the second rotor twists, turns, at times is static.

Unducted fans (UDFs), also known as propfans or open rotor engines, first popped up in the 1970s.

They look a little odd to the modern eye, with smooth nacelles and air intakes at the front, and two sets of fan blades poking out into open air at the back.

But we could be witnessing a new age in engine technology, the scale of which, we have never before seen.

REWE Inaugurates its First Fully Plant-Based Supermarket in Berlin

The very first successful test of a turbojet engine happened in 1937 when Royal Air Force Flight Lieutenant Frank Whittle tested his prototype aircraft engine, the Power Jet W.U. (“Whittle Unit”), which he called a “supercharger,” at his laboratory at the British Thompson-Houston Works in Rugby, Warwickshire, England.

In 1985, French agronomist Francis Chaboussou published a book detailing a theory called Trophobiosis.

The essence of the theory states that pests shun healthy plants and instead target weakened plants.

This statement caused both contention and great promise. 

Trophobiosis is derived from two Greek roots – trophikos (nourishment) and biosis (life).

According to the theory of trophobiosis, it is nutritional imbalances within the plant that lead to disease rather than the simple presence of a disease-causing organism.

Nutritionally imbalanced plants produce an abundance of amino acids and reducing sugars, whereas healthy plants form complete proteins and complex carbohydrates.

The less biochemically complex molecules from imbalanced plants offer an alluring milieu for pests and diseases.

So, what causes an imbalance in plants?

Chaboussou acknowledged several factors, including genetics, the physiological cycle of the plant, photoperiodism, climate, soil, and fertilization. 

But, he highlighted one primary factor: pesticides.

Pesticides inhibit protein synthesis and create metabolic bottlenecks in the plant that lead to an excess of incomplete proteins and reducing sugars – a magnet for pests and diseases.

This becomes a vicious cycle of waning plant health, leading to more pesticide use.

Along with pesticides, Chaboussou implicated the improper use of synthetic fertilizers and herbicides as similar causes of plant imbalance and subsequent disease. 

He went as far as saying that all herbicides are toxic to plants.

Heavy applications of synthetic nitrogen, common in agriculture, increase plant levels of ammonia, nitrate, and amino acids faster than they can be synthesized into proteins.

Herbicides elicit a temporary drop in protein synthesis and inhibit several other key metabolic pathways.

Chaboussou used countless studies spanning 50 years to give the biochemical basis for his theory.

He irked those entrenched in chemical ag and the gatekeepers of reductionist agronomy.

But he also gave credence to what many observant farmers already saw in their fields.

This theory contradicts mainstream plant pathology, where the common approach, whether organic or conventional, is warlike. Extreme measures are taken to eliminate the pest or disease-causing organism.

Trophobiosis is a root cause approach that seeks to correct the nutritional imbalances triggering pest and pathogen susceptibility.

While many farmers and agronomists are achieving remarkable results following this theory, much R&D is still needed to bring trophobiosis to wider adoption.

GE Resurrects the Propfan Aircraft Engine, Cutting Fuel Burn by 20%; the second rotor twists, turns, at times is static. CFM's ultra-efficient open-rotor Rise engine will fly aboard an Airbus technology demonstrator within 4 years or so.

GE once thought super-efficient propfans were the future of air travel, until low fuel prices in the late 1980s moved fuel consumption down the list of priorities. Now, it's bringing them back with the CFM Rise, promising 20% fuel savings.

Unducted fans (UDFs), also known as propfans or open rotor engines, first popped up in the 1970s. They look a little odd to the modern eye, with smooth nacelles and air intakes at the front, and two sets of fan blades poking out into open air at the back.

Typically, there's a lot of blades, and they're swept back, and heavily twisted. The rear blades are twisted in the opposite direction to the front ones; sometimes they counter-rotate, others don't rotate at all, acting as variable-pitch stator blades to help with flow recovery.

"The history of aviation propulsion," reads a GE whitepaper, "tells us that all previous breakthroughs in efficiency were achieved by new technologies that allowed for a larger fan size and a higher bypass ratio." Propfans do both, in a way that combines the fuel efficiency of a turboprop with the speed and performance of a turbofan.

Efficiency may have improved across the industry in the last 30-something years, but GE says the Rise engine should still give 20% more miles than anything else currently on the market for a given amount of energy.

A team of world-class engineers spent countless hours designing the Tokyo railway. Ultimately, they produced one of the world's most complex and efficient urban transportation systems.

Decades later, a group of researchers used slime mold to model the Tokyo train network from scratch. They developed a system nearly identical to the real thing within one day.

The slime mold (Physarum polycephalum) was enticed with oat flakes patterned after the Japanese cities surrounding Tokyo. Over the course of 26 hours, the slime mold established nutrient-channeling networks between the oat flakes, which represented the stops along the Tokyo train network, thereby mirroring the logic of the team of engineers.

Now, researchers are using network-based organisms like slime mold to solve human problems beyond urban transportation. Programming robots, solving complex math problems, and devising fire evacuation routes for skyscrapers are among the challenges assigned to slime molds. These organisms can figure out solutions for a fraction of the cost, significantly faster, and as proficiently as a group of world-class experts.

As a US Citizen, you register to vote and have to show sufficient identification in order to register.  Then when voting and based on your registration you would be on the list of voters for a particular area of the US and only then can you vote.
All the Republicans and their supporters know this but still present this ridiculous notion of illegal immigrants voting and that somehow this is swaying elections in favor of the Democrats.
So now the Republicans want to enact legislation against something that there is legislation already enacted to prevent. And without even thinking about it Republican supporters are willing to believe this because of confirmation bias.
