My biggest struggle as first-time founder 

No, it’s not being overwhelmed by the workload. 

The hardest thing is actually: 
Knowing how to prioritize. 

Should I spend the next hours with: 
- marketing 
- customer calls 
- outbound sales 
- content creation 
- process automation
- product development 

Fear of missing out on one area is HUGE.

Currently, this order makes a big difference:

1. Making current customers happy 
-> hopping on calls/support chat

Because: 
Customer retention is less expensive than acquisition.
(took me some time to realize that)

2. Acquiring new customers through outbound

3. Creating content and brand assets -> LinkedIn/Blog 
(still a little undecisive between 2 & 3)

Now it works like a charm. 

Not only are our users happier. 

But also myself with the product.
Allowing me to be more energetic about it.

How to find emails in Google Sheet

Last week, we got officially listed on Google Apps.

Which means: 
You can now find and verify emails directly in Gsheet.
(from 15+ providers like Hunter, Apollo etc.)

And on top of that:
No need to use Zapier/Make/n8n to get there.

"Which email finder should I use?"

A question I got asked 100's of times in 2024.
(and keep seeing on LinkedIn as well)

My usual response:

What does your target persona work as? 
Which industry do they work in?
Where are they located? 

99% of the times their answer: 
”It’s a mix of everything” 

And that’s what most don’t get. 
(experienced that through a lot trial & error): 

Every email finder has a different strength/focus. 

One might be better in country A.
While the other is stronger in a certain industry. 

That’s why it doesn’t make sense to only use one of them. 

Why not use all of them and leverage each one’s strength?

This method is called ‘waterfall enrichment’.
(we productized that at BetterContact more than a year ago)

Be cautious when buying data 

Horror story from last year: 

A former colleague bought B2B data from a provider. 

It said: 
"Get data from [5 popular US data provider].
For 1/10 of the price." 

Yes, the data was good.
Excellent coverage and accuracy. 

But what he didn’t know: 
The data reseller illegally broached them.

A few months later, the website got shut down. 

And my colleague got a letter: 
$2.000 fine. 

Why? He was blamed for buying that data.

Although he wasn’t the one selling the data.
Just for buying it, he got charged $2.000.

Two learnings here:
1. Don't buy data from providers that hide their sources
2. Double-check that their data is really from that source 

Please stay safe out there.
And make 100% sure where your data comes from.
