Do 2 things:

1. Remember nothing matters - one day you’ll die and the thing stressing you out won’t matter (and at that, it likely won’t matter in 1 months or 1 year)

2. Ask yourself what you can do right now to solve the problem - and do it

Planning is useless if it’s not coupled with ruthless, relentless action.

Planning is the map.

Your goal, the destination.

But you’ll never get to the destination if you don’t start walking. If you don’t get out and start following the damn path.

So yes, plan.

But understand that progress is a result of value creation.

And value can only be created through action.

And yes, it’ll be tough.

You’re creating something valuable, it’ll require sacrifice and discomfort and pain - but what did you expect? Did you expect it to be easy? Did you expect there to be signposts along the way and rest stops evenly spread along the road?

Or did you know it would be tough? Did you know that the signposts were never put up and at some points you’ll feel lost? Did you know that there’s no designated place to stop? Did you know the road isn’t a road but a trail through the forest and up the mountain?

But here’s the thing…

If you respect yourself, if you have an ambition to build something great, it doesn’t matter what you thought you knew. 

All that matters is what you do with the circumstances reality throws at you - whether you like those circumstances or not.

Understand that there’s no greater shame than to waste your potential by thinking everything and never doing.

Get out there. Take action. Ruthless, relentless action.

Until you focus on becoming that person, your goal will forever remain out of reach.

“If it was easy, everybody would do it”

Stop trying to avoid the hard.

Stop thinking there must be an easier way.

There isn’t.

If there was, the thing you’re seeking wouldn’t be worth having.

This constant search for an easier path does nothing but distract you and pull you away from the one you’re on - diluting your efforts and your results.

Difficulty is good.

It seperates the wheat from the chaff.

It seperates those willing to commit and build competency and those not.

It makes you feel proud and fulfilled. 

It makes you feel productive and useful.

Difficulty is good.

Use it to your advantage.

With every moment, you have a choice.

That choice is what you do with the only thing you can control - your actions.

Every action can be boiled down to their position on a spectrum.

That spectrum is how much it moves you toward or away from your goals.

The actions that move you away from your goals, regardless of what your goal is, are actions that take 0 effort (hence why they produce 0 results).

And everything has a price, a cost, a trade off. So if something takes 0 effort, don’t be ignorant to the consequences that come down the line.

Sure, scrolling your phone seems innocent and it takes 0 effort, but down the line it’ll run your attention span and ability to do focused work.

The best (or worst) part about these 0 effort actions that move you away from your goals is that you know you shouldn’t be doing them.

You know there’s something you could be doing that would make you productive and useful.

You know there’s something that would be more beneficial to you.

Those things are the actions that move you toward your goals.

But by doing the the actions you know you shouldn’t be doing, you’re actively going against what you know is right, undermining yourself and disrespecting yourself.

Over time as you repeat these actions and your self respect withers away, you become more likely to do these negative actions and less likely to do positive actions - all because when you lose respect you stop valuing the impact your actions COULD have.

Your actions dictate your life.

Entirely, wholly and completely.

The impact they can and could have is everything.

Respect them and in turn, respect yourself, understanding how impactful your actions are, valuing them and ensuring you do the right thing, ensuring you be disciplined.

The answer to your lack of progress lies in how unwilling you are to bathe in discomfort

There are 2 ways to view reality:

Subjectively - governed by bias, emotions and opinions

Objectively - dictated by facts and the truth

Most people view the world subjectively, letting emotions, media, opinions and biases affect every decision they make and therefore every action they take.

Since their view of the world is subjective, they let their emotions (designed to conserve energy and keep them safe) dictate their actions and creating excuses as for why they are where they are.

Limiting themselves and holding themselves back.

The goal is to view the world objectively.

Of course, we will never be 100% objective, 100% of the time - but the more objective we can be, the better.

When you view the world objectively you see it for how it really is, you see the truth. As such, you can make more accurate decisions and take more powerful actions - creating progress.

The most successful people are those who see the world in line with reality the most, the most successful people are the most objective thinkers.

And until you see reality for what it is - how hard you’re trying, the things you’re spending your time on, the level of thought and care you put into both your personal performance and your work - you will forever be holding yourself back.

I’m all for being disciplined.

I’m all for doing the things you don’t want to do.

I’m all for getting uncomfortable.

But that discomfort and that sacrifice and that suffering MUST benefit you.

There must be a positive output to your input.

Because that’s what discipline is.

Discipline is doing the things that you know you need to do, the things that will turn you into who you need to become - regardless of how you feel in the moment.

Discipline is not about doing things because they’re hard. It’s not about doing things just for the sake of it. That is stupidity, not discipline.

In essence, reframe discipline from a mindset of mindless suffering to earning the right to build your character.

You and your relationship with yourself is enitrely dictated by the actions your past self took.

If your past self ate junk, you have to suffer the consequences.

If your past self spent hours scrolling, you have to suffer the guilt.

If your past self put off the work, you have to suffer with doing it now.

And accordingly, your future self, and their relationship with themselves, is entirely dictated by the actions you take now.

If you want to love yourself, if you want to feel happy, fulfilled and be proud of yourself - do the right thing. 

Do the work.

Goals are outputs.

Your actions are inputs.

Become the person capable of performing the right inputs.
