I have proudly joined the Singapore Fitness Alliance (SFA) as a Founding Committee Member. The SFA is a non-profit industry association / alliance, that represents Singapore’s fitness and wellness industry and champions the incredible value it offers to the culture, community, health and wellbeing of Singapore. My role is to work alongside other leading businessmen and women to help drive greater connectivity, communication and collaboration across this exciting, fast growing and increasingly important industry. Together, we can ensure more people in Singapore are happier and healthier.

Active Franchising is the global platform to promote new investment into health, fitness and wellness franchises. It was created to give our partners both a collective and an individual pedestal in the franchise world – helping to attract new investment into our sector and its most exciting investment opportunities. We work with world leading and best-in-class franchisors and master franchisees as they expand their footprints globally to new investors and franchisees. We actively promote their opportunities through various business mediums and showcase them at large-scale industry events.

Lululemon is a leading athletic apparel retailer and a self-described yoga-inspired company for women and men. The company makes a variety of types of athletic wear, including performance shirts, shorts, and pants, as well as lifestyle apparel and yoga accessories. Increasingly they are expanding into new sporting communities outside of yoga. 

I became a Brand Ambassador to help promote health and wellness awareness and education across my network, gym member base, Lululemon’s customer base and more widely Singapore. I run fitness events for Lululemon’s community and help champion and market their activities in the region, as well as their ethos for wellness and mindfulness.

The Jungle MMA & Fitness

The Jungle is a boutique fitness concept, gym and martial arts studio in Singapore’s CBD. We founded the business to create an engaging, exciting and dynamic health and fitness business where our members can achieve their fitness development, personal development, skills development and team development goals. We offer Group Fitness Classes (MMA, Muay Thai, HIIT, Boxing, BJJ and Wrestling), Personal Training and Corporate Team Building Programs. Our team ensure exceptional exercise classes and programs, as well as the application of sports science and promotion of exercise education.

Oil & Gas Council

After seven years at the helm of Oil & Gas Council I stepped down to become their Non-Executive Chairman and Advisor to their Executive Management Team. I advised on global business development, industry affairs and strategic initiatives, as well as on areas of growth and investment - including energy infrastructure. Additionally, I chaired their major industry events, selecting/inviting speakers, overseeing judging committees and being an ambassador for their business network.

We host several annual dinners globally to recognise industry excellence and achievement. The World Oil & Gas Awards is the world’s largest and most respected oil and gas awards dinner. Each year 1,000 executives gather in London to recognise and celebrate global success. 60 industry experts judge these awards. The judging committee is formed from energy heads of tier one investment banks, law firms, accountancy firms, energy consultancies, as well as a selection of energy company CEOs and NEDs. The Asia-Pacific Oil & Gas Awards focus more specifically on the region’s successes with 40 industry experts judging these awards. I was Chairman of the Judging Committee of both events since 2010 and 2014 respectively. I selected the Committee and also chaired the panel’s nomination process, selecting shortlists and eventual winners. The awards recognise excellence in categories including Company of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Deal of the Year and Executive of the Year.

In early 2014 I stepped down as CEO to become Executive Chairman, moving away from day-to-day management to overseeing the global affairs of the Council full time including business development, product development, client relations and the growth of the Council platform internationally. I relocated to Singapore to expand our Asia-Pacific network, helping our Partners and Members access and engage the Asian-Pacific marketplace and capital markets. In turn we also bring Asian-Pacific energy companies and investors across the world to meet new business partners and investment opportunities. In addition to our thought leadership portal and networking platform we hosted 12 major business events across 12 cities and 5 continents each year, bringing together over 6,000 executives. Recently we have expanded our portfolio to build networks in China, South Africa, Nigeria, Mexico, Malaysia and Argentina. Our newly launched platform in China is now the most respected international energy meeting in China with participation of Chinese NOCs, SOEs, SWFs and Government. I regularly advised companies on the dynamics and opportunities within Asia’s energy markets.

Oil & Gas Council is the world’s largest business network of oil and gas executives. We connect oil and gas companies around the world to each other and to the finance, investment and government communities who partner them. Members and Partners include upstream, LNG/midstream, downstream and oilfield services leaders, as well as, recognised energy experts from all related service sectors. We engage these senior executives to facilitate new investment, encourage business development, showcase excellence and promote thought leadership. As CEO I advised our largest clients on their industry engagement and business development efforts globally. We successfully grew the business from one office and three employees to four offices globally and a core staff of 30. We also built the Council’s brand and reputation to become a trusted partner of the global energy industry and a recognised centre of thought leadership and industry excellence. Encapsulating a digital thought leadership platform with exclusive year-round content, all built around a global series of face-to-face and online business development activities, has been and continues to be a hugely successful and profitable venture for our investors, clients and employees. My colleagues and I will be forever proud of these achievements, especially amidst volatile commodity prices and depressed financial markets.

The Advisory Board/Committee was a collection of senior industry executives and experts. They advised us globally on which companies, executives and topic matters to engage with for the benefit of the wider industry, providing knowledgeable insight and commentary on topical issues. The Committee was absorbed into the overall Council structure in 2014 with a new format that where each major meeting had a separate committee to that region. I was responsible for selecting the Board/Committee and liaising directly with it for the benefit of all concerned with the Council.

Guanxi Energy

With energy companies needing greater connectivity to new markets, capital providers, business partners and executive talent, I founded Guanxi Energy – a specialist energy consultancy engaging the upper hierarchies of the energy industry. 

We offer investor access/relations, corporate communications, business development, executive search advisory and market connectivity services. We act as trusted advisors to ensure companies have the necessary connections to grow their business. Leveraging years of industry relationships and CEO-level networking, we quickly and effectively engage our clients with all the business leaders and opportunities they need access to. 

After successfully completing several mandates and retained projects I closed Guanxi to focus exclusively on the health and fitness industry.

Ducatus Partners

Ducatus Partners provides executive search, market intelligence and related leadership consultancy to clients across the energy, infrastructure and process sectors. 

I worked directly with their leadership team to advise them on candidate nominations, market dynamics in Asia-Pacific, company strategy, new industry players and areas of new business development.

Drillers and Dealers

Drillers and Dealers was an online thought leadership portal for the oil and gas industry. It was initially designed as a monthly e-magazine published by Oil & Gas Council. Each monthly issue between 2009 and 2012 contained features, thought leadership articles, executive interviews, member profiles, surveys and reports written exclusively for us by our Members and Partners. Issues and their respective features have been read by tens of thousands of readers. 

At the start of 2013, we enhanced our digital capability and the e-magazine was reformatted and full incorporated as individual webpages allowing us to ensure our content was globally accessible in real time. Now each feature is published as a singular page, catalogued and categorised. This evolution was in parallel with how digital media evolved and is now collated, formatted and distributed. 

I was responsible for launching and editing the first three years of this portal, developing its brand awareness and market reputation, and overseeing our digital transformation to a more friendly and fluent user experience. I have interviewed over 100 industry executives and continued to write articles for the platform till 2017.

Editor-in-Chief

Terrapinn Ltd.

Responsible for the development, strategy, sales, delivery and management of Terrapinn’s EMEA Commodities & Natural Resources portfolio; including research; innovation and management; sales; market partnerships and industry committees; and external business development. Key role: relationship building with CEO-level executives from oil and gas companies, service providers, advisors and investors. Major focus on the investment into oil and gas, both at commodity and equity level. We were responsible for building the first major global events for National Oil Companies and Small-Cap Oil & Gas Companies outside of North America. We also worked to a lesser degree with Metals and Mining and other non-energy related commodity markets. From this role I established many of my initial connections with EMEA's oil and gas industry and the financial markets that financed their growth. I still retain these contacts and connections to this day. The success of this portfolio was hugely dependent upon international business development across all sub-sectors of the commodities markets and their surrounding capital markets.

My focus and passion is the health, fitness and wellness industry. In my early career, I founded, managed and grew the world’s largest business network for energy executives and investors. After 7 years we successfully sold the business to a private equity owned events and media company. 

I launched and owned a boutique fitness brand/gym in Singapore, I was a brand ambassador for a leading sports apparel company and launched an executive business network for the health and fitness industry. I have extensive experience working alongside companies to connect them to global industry leaders and their partners in business, finance, investment, technology and government. 

I excel in international business development, promoting thought leadership and industry collaboration, corporate communications and ensuring new industry investment by facilitating and brokering CEO-level business relationships across the globe. 

I also have a proven track record in stakeholder engagement, delivering shareholder return and have a wide-reaching knowledge and understanding of the business dynamics of the global energy industry and now the health, fitness and wellness industry.
