HeyReach.io had their $10M ARR party in Skopje at the weekend, which I’d been planning to go to right up until I got my end-of-semester exam timetable.

That said, my Monday got a whole lot better when I walked out of my first exam and saw they’d shipped a Smartlead integration on top of the Instantly.ai one they launched a few weeks ago.

As someone who uses both depending on the client and project, having them both slot cleanly into my favourite LinkedIn tool is very, very handy.

Back in July, two of my best mates asked if I wanted to run a marathon with them in Munich.

The race was in October, which gave me two months to go from occasional jogger to “this might be possible.”
I’d always wanted to try one, and figured worst case I could just push through it. So I said yes.

Race day actually started off great - I had a sub-four hour pace at the halfway mark with a 1:45 split… but that's when my knee popped out of place.

My knee's been dodgy for years due to a lifting injury (and genetics) - and it finally called it quits at 23km. That left me running the second half with one knee and dead headphones.

Somehow I managed to limp across the finish line in exactly five hours. Not amazing, but good enough for my first. The three of us took some photos, and celebrated in style 🍻

No real lesson here, just found it funny how something could go so wrong in every way and still end up being one of my best memories to date.

Hiring proper GTM talent is becoming a genuine challenge for teams these days - and not because there aren’t good people out there, but because most founders still aren’t fully sure what they’re looking for, and most operators aren’t sure how to position themselves either.

So this Thursday at 5.30pm CET, I’m hosting a Club Guestroom with Noëmie Jacquemin, who knows this world better than almost anyone I’ve met.

She’s a specialist GTM talent partner based in London, and she’s helped teams like Instantly.ai, C17 Lab and The GTMA find and hire GTM and RevOps talent from all over the world.

On the call, we’re going to cover things like:

This Thursday (20th November) at 5.30pm CET, Johannes Fessler will join us for a session on mental rewiring for founders. He’s helped a lot of operators work through the internal blockers that slow them down, and he’s one of the few people who can explain this without drifting into theory.

Movember ended yesterday, which means most people have already shaved off their moustaches - or in my case, the bit of fuzz I pretended was one 😂

Whether you took part or not, it’s worth remembering why this initiative even exists. It’s not just a challenge or an excuse not to shave - it was created to spread awareness for a global crisis that doesn’t get anywhere near the attention it should.

More than 700,000 people take their own lives every year, and around 75% of them are men. That’s roughly 1,400 men a day, 60 men an hour, and one man every minute. By the time you finish reading this post, another son, brother, partner or friend will be gone - and someone close to them will be sitting there trying to make sense of signs they never saw.

And that’s what I don’t like about these campaigns. Yes, driving awareness helps, but at the end of the day our support systems still expect the person who’s suffering to be the one who speaks up first. How ridiculous is it that we expect someone who’s overwhelmed to initiate a difficult conversation with someone who may or may not take it seriously?

You can’t build a solution around the assumption that the person in pain will be the one to start talking. It’s not realistic. When your mental health isn’t in a good place, even simple things feel heavier than they should - never mind opening up about something you can barely process yourself.

The alternative isn’t complicated. Instead of hoping the person who’s struggling will take that first step, we take it for them. Not by becoming their therapist, or having all the answers, but by being the one who starts the uncomfortable conversation and stays long enough for it to matter.

For you, it’s a few minutes of awkwardness.
For them, it’s a sign that someone actually cares.

And the reality is you don’t always know who needs it. Some of the people who seem the happiest or most put-together are the ones carrying the heaviest stuff - they just hide it well, or joke their way around it, or don’t want to be a burden.

Reaching out doesn’t fix everything. But it lifts some of the weight off their shoulders - weight that can feel impossible to carry when they think they’re carrying it alone.

So shave the moustache, keep it, pretend you had one to begin with, whatever suits you. What matters is using things like Movember as a reminder to check in on the people you care about, especially the ones who look like they never need it.

That tiny effort on your end could very well be what keeps them around.
