My name is Ryan Kayvan Karimabady but you can just call me Kayvan! I am a first generation immigrant who came to the United States in 2000 when I was only two years old. I was born in Basildon, England, to an English mother and an Iranian father. My father originally fled Iran during the Iranian Revolution and my family came to the United States in pursuit of a better life and new opportunities. In May 2020, I graduated from Marist College with a bachelor's degree in political science and philosophy with a minor in history. I am currently a third year law student at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law and I am pursuing a concurrent master's degree in Cybersecurity Risk Management. Ever since I was kid I have been an avid admirer of film, television, music, video games, and all other kinds of media and technology. Due to these passions, I am dedicated to pursuing a career that is cross-sectional with the intellectual property, cybersecurity, and entertainment industries. In addition to those passions, I also believe it is important to help others whenever possible. To turn my words into action, I have become involved in several pro bono organizations at my school such as the Inmate Legal Assistance Program (ILAP); the Volunteers for Intellectual Property program (VIP); and the Protective Order Project (POP) of which I serve as the Director of Community Outreach. In addition to my pro bono involvement, I am also an associate on the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies and I am participating in my school's Moot Court competition in the fall of 2022.
