For decades, we have been told to reuse, reduce, and recycle to divert waste from landfill or incineration. So, we have. Yet, local recycling programs are in crisis. Recycling used to be less costly for local governments than disposal, but now costs are up to 5X higher. This is because contamination, which refers to all the things people put in their recycling bin that don’t belong. Contamination rates can be as high as 40% in municipalities across North America, threatening the continuation of local recycling programs.

•	Collaborated on internal and external communications strategies and marketing plans to foster a culture of waste diversion in public and private sectors.
•	Developed community-based social marketing (CBSM) initiatives to heighten public awareness of waste and recycling programs.
•	Led conceptual creation and design of an in-house Education Centre to host visitors to the Loraas Recycle Materials Recovery Facility, overseeing all aspects of project management such as graphic design, multimedia production and project budget.
•	Managed production of marketing materials, arranged photography and developed written content and creative design.
•	Spearheaded redesign of the company website, and oversaw creative outline and content development
•	Managed media inquiries and television interviews. Hosted tours and arranged public speaking engagements for various industry stakeholders and municipalities.
