Let's talk Opportunity Contact Roles.

Opportunity Contact Roles.

Attribution info is often carried on the Contact and can be transferred to the Opportunity via the Opportunity Contact Role.

When an Opportunity is created from Lead Conversion, the Contact Role is created automatically. But what about when the Account/Contact already exist and you want to open an Opportunity?

I'm a big fan of only allowing Opportunities to be created from the Contact in B2B sales. 

It may require a validation rule or a screen flow or quick action that lives on the Contact, but it's always worth it from my point of view.

Have a "Create Opportunity" button on the Contact layout that launches a screen flow to gather the initial Opportunity info. Create the Opportunity with the inputs from the screenflow AND pass any attribution info from the Contact that launched the screen flow to the newly created Opportunity. Lastly, create the Opportunity Contact Role on the Opportunity.

It's a bit of customization, but I've found the attribution tracking to be well worth it.
