[B]If { Meet the Hiring team } option is not there

Go to the company page, Open employees, and Search for the designation mentioned in the Job post.
Connect with at least 5 people with a personalized note in the same location and experience level.

Send this note

I came across a job posting for a [Position] role at [Company] and noticed you hold the same position. I was wondering if the opening is in your team or if you know the person hiring for this role.

I am interested in learning more about the opportunity and would appreciate any information you may be able to share and I look forward to hearing back from you.

If they know about the opportunity or Hiring person - GREAT


If they say no, I don’t know anything about it.

Is it ok to leave your job in 1 year or 2 years or even 5 years?

No, it’s not.

Let me tell you why you should not leave your job even after 10 years.

Because "YEARS" is not the right parameter to define you leaving your job.

You should start your job search when

1) You're no longer growing in learning and salary.
2) Your work is not the right fit for you anymore.
3) People or culture is not what you want.

It doesn’t matter if it’s day 1 or 10 Years.

I left a job after 1 day because of an abusive person and I will do it again if required.

Don't leave a job just because it’s been X number of years!

Easy for me to say? Right! 

No, Repeatedly job seekers reach out to me after getting a job that their company, work culture, timing, or many other things are just killing them. 

And most of them knew what they were getting into beforehand.

So, According to me: You shouldn’t drink poison just because you are thirsty.

What do you think?

In India, Recruiters will force you to give your Salary expectation one 1st call!

This is the perfect way to deal with this Situation!

Ideally, You want to Negotiate salary when you know that you have been shortlisted because that’s when you have leverage and negotiation power. However, recruiters try to get a number out of you on the first call which will never be in your favour.

So, do this 👇🏻


[1] - Do not give a number: Try to say something like “Industry norm” and don’t give a number.

If they force you to give a number by saying “I can’t move ahead with a specific number” then you

[2] - Give a number that’s not too high or too low: Example 25-35%, With this 
if they can’t do this then you will know it’s not worth going for the job and 
if they can do this then you know you can negotiate at a higher level.

[3] - Ask twice your last expectation when shortlisted: If you asked for a 25% Hike on 1st call, Go for 50% after you have been shortlisted.

Now, I know what you are thinking! But Sahaj, They will say -“You asked for a 25% hike before”

[4] - Put it on them: Say, Well your recruiter forced me to give an “Uneducated” guess. I remember the person said “I will not move ahead if you don’t give me a specific number” However, throughout the hiring process I got more time to do my salary research and get to know what your expectation is from this role and what impact I can make. As per the requirements of the role, my qualifications, and expertise, I am confident that the “SalaryX” is justified.

[5] - Then you think of 3 rebuttals they can offer to your claim and prepare to defend them with data!

This is what a lot of my people have tried and it also produces positive results!

[3] Fishbowl: Jobs are posted, Offer letters are posted, Open reference requests are posted, and the best part? People are verified by company emails to make sure they are valid.

[4] Startup Job Portals: If you're interested in working for startups, websites like AngelList and YourStory Media Jobs feature job listings specifically for startup positions in India and I personally know people who got jobs through these portals.

[5] Industry-Specific Job Portals: Most people complain that they don’t see enough jobs for their field, industry, and profile on most job portals, well then target specialized job portals for your Industry or profile like Construction placements, @Jobsforher, Careerforfresher, JobStreet, Hospitality Jobs India and many more.

We live in a world where what you look like matters a lot.

For example - LinkedIn content with High-quality photos gets better engagement and views than the one without it.

Similarly, If you have a professional headshot with good light and background then people would want to connect with you, and help you, and your response of Text/referral will be very high.


[2] The Headline

People don’t have time to open and check your profile to know what you do.

In most cases, they look at headlines and decide to connect with you or not.

So don’t write - Manager at XYZ Company instead write -

“Digital marketing | Facebook & Google Ads | $20 Million worth lead in 3 years”
"Data Scientist | Machine Learning Expert | Helping Businesses Make Data-Driven Decisions"
"Business Analyst | Helped last Company Increase Profit Margins by 10%”
"Software Developer | Full Stack Engineer | Building High-Quality Solutions for Global Clients"

And in the end……. The most important part


[3] Engagement

Even if you have “Aladdin Ka Chirag” that can make any wish come true, People will not use it if they don't know it exists.

In the same way, it does not matter how incredible of a profile you might have - please will not look at it if they don’t know you exist.

See, When someone likes a post they can also see some of the top comments and if the Headline and photo are relevant, they will open the LinkedIn profile.

With more Comments, you get more Reach and more Reach will get you right the leads/Job offers.

And that is how a combination of Good photo + Headline + Engagement can unleash the true potential of your LinkedIn profile.


[Bonus Point for Jobsearch] Optimised Designation/Skill

Whatever Designation you are targeting you must have it in

[A] In your profile as the job designation, (Even if you are a fresher or Have no jobs)
[B] In your LinkedIn profile and experience Section as a Skill and 
[C] In your Headline and also in your profile summary.

Performing these 3 things will get you the best possible results from your profile.

Every application is a step closer to your next job!

The first salary offer is almost always lower than what the company is willing to pay.

Employers expect candidates to negotiate. The initial offer is just a starting point to gauge your reaction. They leave room to go higher, knowing most people will simply take the first number thrown their way.

If you accept that first offer without negotiating, you're leaving money on the table. And that's no way to maximize your worth and get paid what you deserve.

[1] The next time you receive a job offer, pause before responding. 
[2] Review the offer, do your research on market rates, and then make a reasonable counteroffer. 
[3] You'd be surprised how often the employer is willing to increase their initial proposal.

Remember - the first salary offer is rarely the best. Be prepared to negotiate for the compensation package you deserve."


The best ATS Resume formatting lesson you'll receive today:

[1] Job titles: Do not create a company-specific job title instead use standard, industry-recognized job titles which ATS systems will look for to match with the Job description.

[2] Creative headings and sections: The resume must have normal headings such as "Work Experience," "Education," "Skills," etc., and not “Career accolades”, “Academic Accolades”, etc because ATS need to identify and categorize the information correctly.

[3] Flattened PDF or Image File: Many people convert their resumes into Flattened PDFs or Images - which ATS can never read. Don’t do this.

[4] Keywords Optimisation: In the end, it all comes down to the keywords and Industry-specific terms to filter the resume - If you are not doing this well, don’t expect Interview calls.

[5] Images and Graphics: ATS systems are primarily designed to read words and not images or graphics. Avoid using images, logos, Icons, etc.

Everyone thinks that this is the most useless question like I don’t know what I will do after 10 days and you are asking about 10 years?” Such a stupid question!

Right? - NO! 

It’s an important question and it’s designed to check: “If you are serious about your career and this job - if you are serious enough to have a plan for yourself, about what you want to learn, and what you want to be”

As most people don’t think beyond a job. They have a “Get a job, Life is set” Attitude which is not good enough. You need to have specific goals, ambitions, and long-term commitments in your life and be able to explain them.



[2] Why should we hire you?

Everyone takes it on their ego, they think the other person is doing a bit of power play and showing so-called “Attitude” but this is not the reality.

This question is not to disrespect or demean you because I know why I want to hire you, I know why I invited you to the Interview but with this question - I want to know

“What do you think you can bring to the team” 
“What do you think are your biggest strengths, skills, or selling points”

It’s very important to know this before someone hires you!



[3] The most hated questions of them all are loopholes, For Example -

Why do you have a gap?
Why too many job changes? 
Why looking for a career change?

Most people think - Recruiters ask these questions to reject them and that’s not true!

If I wanted to reject you because of a gap, career change, etc. why would I waste my time calling you or inviting you to an Interview? 

I can reject your resume.

"These questions are to check the risk associated with hiring you"

Like, let’s say you have a "Gap" then - I need to know “what happened, why it happened, can it happen again? and what steps are you taking to make sure it won't happen again”
