Bescy (formerly Action Design Network) is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a community of over twenty thousand practitioners and researchers interested in promoting behavioral science in the design and development of products and policies that help people take action to improve their lives.

We’re still an all-volunteer network of people who believe in ethical behavioral science. We’re still holding engaging regional events to help people learn about and apply this craft. What’s different is that we’re turning our attention outwards.

We promote ethical, rigorous applied behavioral science and design in new areas, and help people outside of our community to understand what we do, engage with applied BeSci, and do more with BeSci in their lives.

This includes hosting regional events for people to connect, publishing books and practical resources for practitioners, hosting a WhatsApp community for the general public, and cultivating special interest groups in specific focus areas. And there's much more to come.

With all the hype around artificial intelligence (AI), Royce shares her wisdom on behavioral intelligence (BI), and reminds us about the importance of marrying System 1 with System 2 using the analogy of the Elephant and the Rider.
 
Royce discusses how System 1 (the elephant) drives impulse and action, System 2 (the rider) can only influence not lead the mighty elephant. 

She shares a vivid example of the differing behaviors exhibited between parents and gift givers of children’s toys that brings it to life.
 
My biggest takeaway from this is that we need to always consider BOTH System 1 and System 2 to understand the tensions between them and find ways to drive growth through Behavioral Intelligence.
