I started my apprenticeship in 1996 and became a fully qualified (gold card) electrician in 2000. Throughout my training, I faced the usual challenges of being a woman on a building site but looking back I don't think much fazed me. I have enjoyed a varied and challenging career from being an estimator to operations manager to a sole trader as well as managing apprenticeships. In 2008 I took a position teaching self-funding adults for a private training provider. This is where my passion for passing on my knowledge and experiences started to blossom. In the past 15yrs I have enjoyed being a sparky alongside assessing, IQA and teaching. In 2019 I completed my DET Level 5 and moved back into private training from FE. At the end of 2022 I made the decision to hand in my notice (as the Apprenticeship Operations Manager) without a new position to go to as I believe it is time for a new chapter in my life so I have registered Lawler ElectroTech Training Ltd! I am now up for offering my services as a contractor so I can now offer my skills, knowledge, and experience to many different types of training providers. It is my mission this year to raise the standard of delivery across the Electrical training sector and raise the standard of delivery by helping to train future tradespeople to teach across all of construction!
