Study on how to automate and optimise backoffice operations with Avaloq, calculation of the business case and establishment of an implementation plan. Later implementation of this plan managing an offshore development team in Bangalore, India. Subcontracted via HCL Technologies.

- Line manager for up to 5 software engineers forming a small development team analysing UK specific requirements and adapting the Avaloq kernel to the UK, among others a CREST interface and UK corporate actions. 
- Presales support for various prospects in particular in the areas of system architecture, data migration and target operating model. 
- Helped building up the office from initially 4 staff to an over 20 staff operation doing sales, consultancy and development. Recruited and coached most consultants and software engineers in the office and was the line manager of ¾ of the office's high performers. 
- Successfully lobbied within the organisation for the decentralisation of development and the official recognition and creation of dedicated budgets for local development teams. Supported the executive board in delivering a definition of roles and responsibilities for such teams.
- Managed the UK product localisation budget of over £1 mio.

•Definition of the system integration between Avaloq and external systems. Delivery of a detailed document as part of the project contract between Avaloq and Canaccord.
•Migration concept and definition of roles and responsibilities between Canaccord and Avaloq. Delivery of a detailed document as part of the project contract between Avaloq and Canaccord.
•Setting up release management processes, defining coding conventions and supporting critical cross-stream issues. 
•Data migration SME for the project, supporting the migration stream on critical issues. Successfully resolved a blocker around a complex inflight transaction migration by delivering a clear definition of the approach that could be shared and agreed by all stakeholders and could be successfully implemented by a migration developer.

Solution Architect

•Definition and documentation of the system integration between Avaloq and Barclays group systems in collaboration with the Barclays Wealth lead architect. 
•Stream lead on the Avaloq implementation project for Individual Saving Account (ISA). Delivered a specification and design document which was successfully implemented by a developer. 
•Stream lead for data architecture and object modelling. Successfully removed a go-live risk which arose from the lack of a clear definition of the mapping of data structures and references between Avaloq, legacy systems and external applications. Pushed for clarification of the outstanding issues with Barclays business representatives and delivered a document under high time pressure specifying the all these aspects. This document was used by all stakeholders, in particular all Avaloq functional streams,  data migration, Barclays business representatives and external application managers. Managed a turnaround of the situation such that object modelling was not a go-live risk any more.

•Analysed requirements for UK tax wrappers ISAs, SIPPs and Offshore bonds for a major prospect.
•Rapid prototyping of tax wrapper functionality for demo purposes and presentation to client representatives.

•Creation of project plans and coordination of project activities.
•Management of up to 8 local and expat developers. 
•Project was delayed by 1 month and not progressing when taking over the position. Reduced this delay to 1 week and unblocked the situation by creating a contractually binding specification of the requirements to stop scope creep and working in parallel on the elements ready for development. Managed this turnaround under high time pressure and in a foreign business environment.
