Working within the Operations department I work closely with the Head of Business Services to maintain and develop our in store Services offering. Our core Services offering consists of printing, copying, & binding, in addition to this we offer DHL shipping and Western Union money transfer.

Project Planning
- Plan all aspects of a Print Shop upgrades from initial concept through to install and launch. This involves liaising with many departments and stakeholders at different levels within the business which involves a lot of attention to detail and systematic thinking.
- Constantly review project budget to ensure there are no overspends.

Commercial Analysis
- Analysing sales and activity by region, store, category and product to understand the needs of the market. As a result, take actions and make the necessary changes to drive incremental sales and uncover barriers and training requirements.
- Produce weekly sales reports for Directors, Area Managers, Store Managers and Print Consultants to review so they are kept up to date with sales progress.
- Understanding cost prices, sell prices and margin for both the B2B market and B2C market. Using this knowledge to confidently quote for print orders where standard pricing isn’t applicable.
- Put together capital and operational expenditure requests for projects. These need to have a detailed breakdown of ROI.

Operational Support
-Provide operational support for all stores covering all bases of Business Services. This is more about having in-depth knowledge of all processes in place and how to overcome obstacles.
- Lead and coach a the team of Print Consultants based across multiple key stores to drive sales growth, overcome barriers and constantly improve the level of service.
- Carry out weekly store visits and assessments to review sales, operations, point of sale, equipment and processes.

Business Development Manager

I was handpicked by the Business Development Manager to oversee the implementation of transforming an established basic print hub into a brand new Design & Print Hub that is completely new to Ryman stores in the Midlands, offering extensive print and design services including business cards, posters, leaflets, wide format and many more.

• I manage an extremely busy Design & Print Hub offering graphic design, print, copy, bind, scan and DHL. On average this section is responsible for 20% of the total store sales per week.
• Advertise and market the new services through creating marketing material, leafleting in the local areas, organising our attendance at a Fresher’s Fair and initiating digital marketing for the store.
• Designing marketing material for print & web whilst maintaining the Ryman brand throughout, I also create point of sale for use in the store which also has to be designed to fit within the brand.
• Consulting with customers on a daily basis advising on print & graphic design.
• Manage my own diary when arranging appointments with customers to go through specific requirements for a graphic design project.
• Carrying out custom graphic design jobs, taking a customer’s idea and transforming it into a fully finished and complete piece of artwork.
• Working with internal and external printers, ensuring artworks are thoroughly checked and proofed before being sent to print.
• Manage the stores digital marketing through social media.
• As we offer such a wide range of services it’s of the utmost importance that I am able to multi-task, work well under pressure and keep on top of my work load at all times, whilst offering excellent customer service.
• Ryman’s niche in the Design & Print industry is that we offer a “last-minute” service where other printers would refuse, for this reason I am able to work to extremely tight deadlines, whilst always maintaining quality and accuracy.

Print & Design Consultant

Supervisor, valued team member and key holder in one of the highest turnover stores in the West Midlands.

Duties:

•Provide an excellent level of customer service
•Build relationships with existing and new customers
•Manage a team of four staff members throughout a full trading day to ensure time is utilised, to maximise efficiency and ensure the work rate is optimised.
•Key holder duties: Cash handling, access to the safe, access to high value stock (management only).
•Training new staff members in terms of product knowledge and customer service to ensure they offer the exceptional level of service that the company offer across all of their stores.

Experience Gained:

• As the job requires customers to be approached and welcomed, this has improved my communication skills massively and allowed me to now possess excellent interpersonal skills. Also building relationships with customers is important, offering an excellent level of service each time to ensure they return for repeat business.
• Specifically identifying the customers’ needs through the combination of building rapport and fact finding. This is done in a none aggressive way to ensure the customer feels at ease. This resulted in the customers’ needs being identified, the relevant products being found and a sale being closed.
• Monitoring daily and weekly sales targets and informing other staff members, to allow me to motivate them to ensure sales are being pushed as much as possible to increase takings. This shows I am results-driven and have a logical and methodical approach to achieving tasks and objectives twinned with excellent monitoring capabilities.
• On many occasions I have to manage a team of 4-5 people which showcases my leadership and team management skills. I also have to work well within the team to ensure moral is kept high at all times and the level of professionalism is kept to a high standard.

Supervisor

Handpicked by the Business Development Manager for Ryman, this job role was created specifically for me, as I was deemed as extremely reliable, dependable and trustworthy. Also my active and dynamic approach to work and getting things done twinned with my ability to adapt to change and learn new skills efficiently and implement them with ease showed that I was perfect for the job.

Duties:

• Be in charge of the installation and training for the roll out of a new computer system on a trial basis in 20 stores. Pending this successful trial, the new system was then rolled out to all 237 Ryman stores.
• Installing and networking the new computer system in various stores across the country.
• Training staff on how to use the new computer system, tailoring my training method to suit the various abilities of all the different staff members.
• Working field based, travelling became a big part of this job role as the chosen stores were across the whole country.

Experience Gained:

• I had to quickly learn in a short amount of time the correct procedure for installation and networking the computer system to ensure it was in a fully working order when I left the store. This shows I am a fast learner, can adapt quickly to change and I will always overcome any challenges given to me and see them through to the end. I am determined, decisive and use my initiative to meet and resolve challenges.
• The whole installation procedure was carried out on my own; this improved my independent working capabilities as I had to ensure I had impeccable time keeping skills to guarantee the task was carried out within a set amount of time. This shows that I can work well on my own and follow orders given to me; I am reliable, dependable and hard-working in meeting objectives.
• Training staff allowed me to showcase my excellent interpersonal skills as I had to tailor each training session to meet the needs of different abilities within the team.

Acting as a shadow group leader I helped the delivery of the Oxford Summer School Foundation programme, a course which I attended in 2016 as a delegate and was invited back as a shadow group leader.
