Responsible for developing, supporting, implementing, and overseeing Accelerate MT (AMT) innovation and entrepreneurship programs including the Blackstone LaunchPad, NSF I-Corps, SIHI-REACH, and Women’s Business Center. These programs are designed to sustain aspiring and existing innovators and entrepreneurs at the University of Montana and across the State in collaboration with other Accelerate Montana Programs.

The Blackstone LaunchPad is an international organization, founded in 2008, that is committed to providing entrepreneurial and skill-building support to students in order for them to succeed in any career they choose. The Blackstone LaunchPad organization has a network of 30 different LaunchPads located at Universities across the United States and in Ireland.

Our mission and goal is to provide UM students and Montana community members the opportunity to explore entrepreneurship, create a viable career path, develop entrepreneur skills and mindsets. It is crucial to us that we support all people to explore ideas, pursue opportunities, and create the future.

To realize these goals, we provide a variety of services and opportunities for UM students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as Montana community members and entrepreneurs. These services and opportunities include free venture coaching, internships, jobs, competitions, events, courses, NSF I-Corps, and much more.

Instruct, mentor, and guide academic and community teams in the Great Plains region on lean launch customer discovery principles for the commercialization of technology-focused solutions.

The primary focus of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) program is business development education through individual and small group advising.

The business advisor acts as a coach or mentor, assisting clients in developing or improving their business management skills in order to effectively manage the operations of their business. 

In addition to the instruction/advising component of the position, the business advisor performs significant outreach activities to engage the community through regular contact with Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development Councils, service clubs and community organizations, and legislators.
