I have written research led, evidence based guidelines in the form of a handbook for PACU Practitioner/Nurse led, adult patient extubation, for EndoTracheal Tubes.  The guidelines detail the accountability, role and core skills needed, along with the extubation process and post extubation complications, signs, symptoms and treatment modalities.

I have also developed and registered with Intellectual Properties, an algorithm (process flowchart) for the Extubation Process.

Along with these I have devised a knowledge, skills and competency training package for PACU Practitioners/Nurses to be measured against and is based upon guidelines from the AAGBI (2013).  This ensures that all practitioners undertaking extubation have the knowledge, skills and competency to undertake the task, thereby ensuring that standards are met and complying with Clinical Governance.
