Most teams celebrate “Contract Signed” like it’s a green light to cash.

Your billing team? They see all the red flags flashing and for good reason.

Why? Because "contract ready" just means:

Deal value entered/agreed → SKU config mapped to billing rules
Payment terms agreed → Payment terms match contract + quote + account
PO required? TBD → PO collected, uploaded, and verified 

If you find yourself asking any of these, you’re not billing-ready:
→ "Who’s the billing contact again?"
→ "Do we need a PO?"
→ "Why are SKUs free text in Salesforce?"
→ "Is this monthly or upfront?"
→ "Wait, they didn’t ask for net terms?"

Holding a signed contract without operational rigor behind it? That’s not a billing delay, it’s a revenue control failure.
