Commissioned and delivered unique research in to HE student attitudes to Gaming and Gambling engaging over 2,000 university students and supporting the development of the YGAM University Partnership Programme.
Project Lead for evaluation of YGAM's Education Programme on young people.  Included developing the Theory of Change to create a detailed outcomes and impact evaluation framework and establishing long term approach for outcomes and impact reporting for new National Education Programme.

Established new governance structure, led Board skills review and recruitment processes.  Developed and facilitated Board induction and development days.  Provided services as clerk to YGAM Board of Trustees, newly formed trading Board (YGAM Innovation), helped established Finance, Audit & Risk and People, Governance  & Transformation Committees.  Managed full review of governing documents and working relationship between trading and charity boards.  Established structures to manage business of the Boards, advised Trustees and Directors on governance and compliance.

A brilliant engagement with an inspiring team.  Tasked with supporting the Board in growing their confidence as trustees, supporting more effective discussion and decision making I provided a mix of 1:1 and small group support to the trustees alongside my first experience of trustee induction via video conference, which really focused the mind!  Providing the CEO and trustees with enhanced structures for Board reports and discussions, over two Board cycles the Board reported that papers, discussion and decision making improved significantly and they now feel confident to continue.  'My work here is done' is a hugely satisfying feeling.

University of Nottingham Students'​ Union

UoNSU is a connected and diverse community of 34,000 students who get involved, find support and make change.  

As chief executive my role was to empower, collaborate and be inclusive to and with every single one of our 34,000 students, the Student Officer team, 90+ career staff and over 150 student staff, and to work in partnership with the University.

The Union's first 5 year strategy, collaborated with students to launch a compelling brand, develop the Portland Building as the home of the Students' Union and partner with the University to deliver an incredible Sports experience, UoN Sport and establish a sector leading Insight function. The strategy widened engagement by over 50%, transformed our people practices including developing and launching our Values, new People Policies, a Learning & Development Strategy, a new continuous approach to performance, recognition and reward. It also launched a partnership with Spar transforming our shops provisoon, launched a student-run Coffee Company and a dedicated clothing store.  

UoNSU achieved accreditation in Advice Quality Standard and NUS Quality Mark - Very Good.  The second strategy, signed off June 2018 tackles the huge challenge of student wellbeing, looks at what student deomcracy needs to look like in the 21st century and considers how best to prepare and support students for life at and after Uni.

I want to see everyone have opportunities and be able to take them.  Working with charities and organisations with social purpose at their heart I hope to play a part.  Building engaged and motivated teams sits at the heart of my purpose. An experienced charity chief executive and board effectiveness consultant I specialise in Board transformation, organisation turnaround, people change, change communications, and business effectiveness. With a strong track record in transformative Board reviews, turning around low motivation and poor performing teams, developing strategy and improving business effectiveness for Boards and charities, I have a particular interest in young people, education, well-being, environment and sustainability, and charities working in disadvantaged communities.
