People log in to LinkedIn for the first time in ages, glance at their news feed, roll their eyes and go "Ugh, more of this braggy, dick swinging shite".

Dave's hand on the steering wheel of his (rented) Ferrari.
Jack snapped a smug selfie from his First Class flight to Dubai.
Ethan, Charlie and Jade spamming their inbox with automated sales pitches for Recruiters'R'Us 

So they scurry off back to Facebook and Instagram declaring that Linked is a useless cesspit of awful people telling each other how great they are. 

But they're wrong. They're just in the wrong part of LinkedIn.

Logging into LinkedIn and deciding it's immediately crap is like walking into a Michelin star restaurant and declaring the chef is incompetent because they didn't have your favourite meal waiting for you.

You didn't tell them what you like to eat...
You didn't specify your preferences or allergies
You just expected them to know and serve up what you like to consume. 

The algorithm IS your chef. And you have to feed it information on what you do and don't like, before it can cook up something truly spectacular for you to consume, that will have you coming back over and over for more. 

React and leave comments on content you enjoy. 
Scroll past, unfollow, disconnect, or block people when they're serving up something that doesn't suit your palate. 

When you do this effectively, and regularly, LinkedIn becomes useful, educational, and dare I say it... enjoyable. 

And when you enjoy doing something, you'll do it more, you'll meet more people, attract more opportunities, and build better relationships. 

So before you condemn LinkedIn to be the flaccid French fry of social media, consider that your algorithm chef needs a bit more information before it can tantalise your tastebuds. 

LinkedIn is a highly effective tool for marketing your business, but like anything, it only works when you know how to use it. 

And luckily, I'm a lot better at LinkedIn than I am in the kitchen. 🙃

4% reply rate to 10% reply rate without changing the script or lead source ✅

Here’s how:

A client of mine uses cold outreach as his primary means of acquisition.

When he signed up, he told me “Look man I’m only in this to get better results from email. When I email someone they usually click on my LinkedIn profile so I don’t want it to be empty.”


He’s in a very competitive niche and on average he was getting 4% reply rate to his emails.

We’ve been working together for 2 months and he’s now getting inbound leads from LinkedIn directly.

That’s not surprising to me.

What is a bit surprising tho is that his reply rate went from 4% to 10% on average.

I guess the hypothesis was correct.

So if you run cold outreach campaigns, post content because people look you up.
