🟥AI Failure Is Now a Business Risk, With a Price Tag

This analysis comes from the Dynatrace "2025 State of Observability Report" , based on a survey of 842 senior technology leaders - including CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, and heads of DevOps—across global enterprises with revenues exceeding $100 million.

 ⏹️The Core Takeaway:

Observability is the ability to understand what's happening inside your software systems by looking at the data they produce (like logs, metrics, and traces), so you can quickly find and fix problems.

Observability has evolved beyond technical monitoring. With 100% of surveyed organizations now deploying AI, the mandate is clear: visibility systems must directly track AI's impact on financial performance and compliance obligations.

🔹The Problem: The Governance Blind Spot
The data exposes critical gaps in how organizations manage AI risk:

🔹 The Trust Deficit: Despite universal adoption, 69% of AI-driven decisions still require human verification—a manual bottleneck that negates automation ROI. 

One in four leaders rank improving AI trust as their highest priority.

🔹The KPI Disconnect: While 28% of organizations have begun aligning observability data with business KPIs, the majority lack direct traceability between AI system performance and tangible business outcomes (revenue impact, customer retention, compliance exposure). 

This creates a dangerous scenario: IT dashboards show green while business metrics deteriorate.

• The Governance Investment Signal: AI governance has emerged as the second-highest AI use case at 50%—trailing only data management (57%)—with 70% of AI governance leaders reporting budget increases for trust and transparency initiatives.

What needs to change:

1. From Monitoring to Accountability  
AI failures should be traced to lost revenue, compliance risk, or brand damage. Observability is your audit trail.

2. Full-Stack Visibility  
When AI breaks, you need to know where—bad data, model drift, or infrastructure. Fast fixes start with clear traceability.

3. Observability as the Control Plane  
AI now drives platform decisions. Leaders are choosing tools that can scale safely, not just run fast.

The message from Dynatrace study is clear:  

Observability isn’t just a tech tool anymore—it’s now a key part of how businesses run AI.  

As AI becomes central to operations, any failure can hurt revenue, damage reputation, or lead to compliance issues. That’s why observability has become essential—it helps companies track, manage, and fix AI problems before they become costly.

#DemandbaseGO: Stop Generating AI Debt: The 3 GTM Shifts That Matter Most

Reflections from Demandbase GO 2025 (October 7th 2025) , Refreshing to see a very realistic view of AI application in Marketing.

I’ve been saying this in my keynotes for months. Marketers are under immense pressure to adopt AI in their Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies, yet many aren’t seeing the pipeline or revenue lift they expected.

In his keynote, Gabe Rogol, CEO of Demandbase, nailed the issue: AI is driving activity and productivity, but not business outcomes. 👏 

Why? Because GTM AI is fundamentally different from engineering AI—it operates in the messy, subjective world of human interactions.

To avoid accumulating “AI Debt”—those failed experiments, fragmented systems, and siloed tools—Rogol laid out three strategic shifts that I believe every GTM leader should act on immediately:

1️⃣ Shift Focus: From Accounts to Buying Groups.

The old model of targeting entire accounts or junior leads is either too broad or too narrow. It wastes effort.

Instead, focus your AI on the Buying Group - the real decision-makers and influencers. This shift allows you to track multiple opportunities within one account and apply your efforts precisely where they’ll convert. AI is essential to manage this complexity at scale.

2️⃣ Shift Architecture: 

Deploying isolated AI point solutions creates data silos and what Gabe called “spam cannons”—a term I hadn’t heard before, but it’s spot on.

The fix? Unified alignment. AI agents must operate from a shared data foundation, using consistent first- and third-party data. Stop treating AI as a collection of projects. Start managing it as a governed, collaborative system.

3️⃣ Shift Outcome: From Signal-Based to Outcome-Based Systems.

Signal-based systems flood sales teams with low-quality alerts. The signal-to-noise ratio is too low, leading to burnout and missed opportunities.

Outcome-based systems flip the model. You prompt the AI with a desired business result - like “Find an upsell opportunity for Account X” - and it delivers only the critical signals, key contacts, and recommended actions to achieve that goal. That’s real ROI.

AI in GTM isn't just about productivity; it must be a pipeline generation tool. We need to stop rewarding AI activity and start demanding AI-driven outcomes. That means aligning AI to the specific buying groups that drive revenue, and building on a unified data layer.

The recent news of Vimeo's acquisition by Milan, Italy based Bending Spoons in a $1.38B all-cash deal is a big deal . Here's what you need to know, and what it means for video content creators and businesses relying on video hosting.

The key takeaway is that Vimeo, once an original player in self-hosted video, now operates in a landscape dominated by YouTube. While YouTube offers massive reach and organic search benefits, it often puts enterprises at the mercy of its features. Another point to consider is the potential for limited investment in Vimeo's product and go-to-market strategy under the new ownership. This is important because it means we should actively explore alternative platforms. 

I've observed a growing trend of people using tools like StreamYard (Also acquired by Bending Spoons) and Goldcast for live content creation and multi-channel distribution. I'm also curious about the status of Wistia, a platform I've used in the past.

There is a buzz in the community over increase in prices for StreamYard which may be good news for other players.

In short, don't just watch what's happening. Focus on adapting your video strategy by exploring diverse hosting and distribution solutions to maintain control and reach your audience effectively.
