I have always wanted to be an Archaeologist. Although my original plans did not materialize, I eventually found my calling as a Secretary and Executive Administrative Assistant. The transition from science to business may seem like a drastic change, but the two fields have more similarities than one might think. Both science and business involve the pursuit of answers to complex problems and demand a range of skills such as research, project management, communication, critical thinking, perseverance, and the ability to balance multiple tasks while keeping sight of the larger goal. They also require an understanding of resource management and human behavior, as well as experience with budgeting. In essence, both fields require a combination of analytical and interpersonal skills. My path to becoming a secretary started in my junior year of high school when my business teacher assigned me career projects on legal and medical secretaries, along with computer skills. That was when I became captivated by the role. Following high school, I enlisted in the military and was appointed as a legal secretary in the Judge Advocate General's office on the Naval Base I was stationed. This experience provided me with valuable knowledge in legal administration. After being discharged, I obtained a Paralegal certification and worked for various attorneys for a few years. I then expanded my skills by working as a secretary in various industries such as the oil field, trucking, medical, hospitality, sales management, and general business offices. The diverse experiences I gained from these positions have equipped me with a comprehensive set of skills and a wide-ranging knowledge base. The satisfaction I receive is knowing that I have given my clients the power to pursue their dreams. In my leisure, I enjoy watching numerous historical and archaeological documentaries and continually enhancing my abilities to provide exceptional service to the companies I serve.
