Yet, by 2018 I also knew with equal certainty that the professional speaking circuit needed to change. At event after event, I heard speakers with similar stories, derived from similar places of privilege, delivering speeches that yield little more than inspirational quotes for a coffee mug. While there is a time and place for motivational and inspirational speakers, I have always found the best orators are radical thought leaders, activists, and trailblazers who challenge the status quo and make us a little uncomfortable - their voices need to be amplified to create a more just society. That’s why I founded Collective Speakers, a speakers bureau with an unwavering commitment to promoting artists that make positive contributions to our rapidly transforming world. Our core focus is on areas of justice and we prioritize speakers who give voice to topics often ignored by the mainstream, including disability equality, racial justice, mental health, and LGBTQIA+ inclusivity.
