“I wanted to let you know I got the job at Ladies Home Journal in New York” - me. “You’ll never make it” - Local Magazine Owner. The day I heard those words was the day I left for New York, and I was determined never to come back. The odds were stacked against me, and nothing new. I was one of 7 children and the first to go to college. I cut my teeth working for leading publishing houses and unique media startups. Sensing I could succeed in sales working independently, I got off the daily train to New York and launched a sales consultancy in 2009 generating revenue for innovative digital media companies. The reasons I continue to succeed are pretty simple: put in a good day’s work, dust yourself off when things don’t work out, and keep moving forward. Oh, and be a nice guy. I’ve also had plenty of failures. Lost more jobs and projects than I could count. Those failures were the greatest teachers and why I stand here today as one of the co-founders of Rotary Digital. Our mission at Rotary Digital is to upgrade the email inboxes of more than 1.5mm men daily. We run the company the same way I’ve run my life - trying every day to bring some positivity into the world. I also love chatting with founders of great brands and learning about their journeys, so I started a podcast called Strange Currencies. Finally, I’m thrilled to give back and share my lessons as an adjunct professor at Temple University. I hope to inspire a few kids and make their journey a little less bumpy than mine.
