I grow online marketplaces. It's just something I seem decent at, so about a decade ago, I decided that's what I wanted to specialise in, and it's managed to mostly keep me off the streets ever since. I'll help any type of marketplace 'unstick' or get moving, especially gravitating towards those who are seeking to achieve some kind of social benefit. - Circular economy / P2P/ sustainability - can we just stop buying things we don't need, please? Cars that never get driven, Fashion and general cheap crap that ends up in landfill - I love marketplaces that address this and welcome tackling the challenge to make them viable economically and proposition-wise. (Edit: I'm really getting into sustainability big time atm, so seeing where this goes) - Edtech/ Jobtech - alternative education and career pathways - can we stop asking kids for 2.1's from red brick unis to do jobs that don't need them? Traditional education is lagging behind the ability of Gen Z's to learn. Some great startups in this space. - Sports, music, animals, environment ... passion projects I'll never say no to. Just a little bit of old spiel as to what I do ... I help online tech startups accelerate and consolidate. I particularly specialise in pushing ambitious (and generally more than a little recalcitrant) online service marketplaces to get moving and become proper businesses in the process. I had some success and engineered a couple of exits in Sydney, before departing for the sunny climes of London just over a decade ago, since helping a bunch of mostly online marketplaces in Australia, US and UK ... HomeAdvisor, PinLocal, Housekeep, TidyChoice, Buzzmove, Tailster, Homyze, Venuescanner, plus lots more. Most recently, I have been Fractional CMO for VenueScanner, Head of Growth for Tailster, launched a trades services business in my second stint at Housekeep (quite chuffed to be asked back 6 years after helping launch their very successful cleaning business), to name but a few things. Currently hanging out in Sydney for a bit, working out my next thing (is there something in the climate-tech/ sustainability thing?) before probably heading back to London. I'm certainly not cool enough to be a 'growth hacker' - I just do what gets things moving fast, combining things I know across marketing (especially digital/ performance), ops, finance, recruitment and just business generally - pushing the right buttons to get serious growth happening. As expected from someone with my background, I'm analytical, driven by numbers and more than a little pragmatic, quite creative too.
