A podcast that explores how artistic sensibilities can positively impact the business world. 

Many aspects of our daily existence are impacted by small and big businesses and conversations around sustainability and customer-centered engagements have become more prevalent in the past years. Artists engage with existential questions of our human existence and can challenge many of our common business practices. How can an artistic lens or the sensibilities that an artist uses in their daily practice, improve the way businesses are run and how they communicate? 

Through interviews with entrepreneurs, artists, and professionals, the show investigates how our communities can be transformed by actively engaging an artistic lens in our professional settings.

.beyondcomms was born out of a need to tell the stories that inspire founders in their brave journey to making a difference with their companies. As a marketing and communications agency, we believe in the necessity of storytelling through marketing to build engaged audiences.

Founded in 2022, in the United Arab Emirates, .beyondcomms is headed by Sebastian Grube. Sebastian combines his Bachelor of Arts (Theater and Music) and Master of Business Administration (MBA)  to analyze and empathize with our clients and their customers. 

In the dynamic and competitive landscape of the UAE it is no longer enough to throw money at the problem of disconnected marketing tactics and poorly executed brand strategies. Start-ups and founders continue to struggle because marketing resources are being spread too thin or illusive digital agencies promise big results but fail to deliver.  

We believe that the only way to build long-term success and future-proofing businesses is through holistic marketing strategies based in strong brand identities and high-quality content production. At our core, we are collaborators and invest in every brand as much as their founders.

In 2023, .beyondcomms expanded to Dublin, to start supporting founders and business owners in Ireland and Europe. 

We are excited to build long-term partnerships and help our clients scale their business for a constantly evolving digital landscape.
.beyondcomms focuses on establishing the marketing foundation for our clients before scaling their business across the necessary channels and activities. Rather than providing segmented services such as social media management, we adapt to the needs of our client and grow with them.

CEO & Founder

NYUAD Art Gallery

- Led on creation of comprehensive Marketing and Brand strategies
- Partnership building with external institutions and internal departments to create synergies and long-term collaborations
- Conceptualization and execution of programs and events to engage multi-cultural audiences and stakeholders
- Effectively managing visitors services through hiring and supervising a team of 18+ Student Assistants
- Hired 70+ students assistants and conducted comprehensive interview processes
- Liaising with External Affairs and PR Agency to maximize coverage and improve communications strategy
- Built a marketing department of four part-time assistants and a digital consultant, including temporary freelance designers
- Initiated and facilitated media partnerships with major outlets in the UAE including Harper’s Bazaar Art Book and Al Ittihad
- Oversaw content creation for all marketing activities including social media, brand building, and advertisements
- Managed and optimized marketing and program budgets to increase footfall and reach, including 75%+ growth of website traffic 
- Reconceptualized student assistantship engagement to include rigorous policies and a comprehensive training program

Community Engagement and Marketing Senior Officer

As the Community Engagement and Marketing Officer it is my foremost responsibility to reach the various audiences The NYUAD Art Gallery serves and to create engaging experiences that activate The Art Gallery's mission and topics of current and past exhibitions.

Responsibilities include:
- Ideation and execution of programs and events (in collaboration with curatorial and education departments)
- Overseeing 18+ Student Assistants and developing a robust learning program
- Build and nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enable long-term collaborations and exchange of ideas
- content creation and management for marketing and public relations efforts

Community Engagement & Marketing Officer

Executive Director Support:
- Provided high level administrative support to the Executive Director (calendar management, travel arrangements, etc.)
- Acted as the first point of contact for visitors, community members and guests. 
- Provided overall support services to gallery volunteers, interns, staff, as well as artists and vendors.  
- Issued and managed written correspondence for the gallery email

Event Support:   
- Coordinated with artists and external guests for travel booking, meeting schedules, and general hosting of guests
- Coordinated activities and hosting before and during events
- Financial processing, including e-pro and purchase orders as needed 
- Produced special events based on artist requirements (i.e. liaise with other NYUAD departments for sourcing/renting technical equipment, arranging spaces, attending to special requirements for space layouts etc.)

Marketing Support:
- Managed and updated social media channels
- Project managed the online and print advertisements placement for exhibitions and events

Administrative Coordinator

- Provided high level administrative support to the Executive Director (calendar management, travel arrangements, etc.)
- Organized ED's office and library as well as maintain an inventory of items as requested
- Acted as the first point of contact for visitors, community members and guests. 
- Provided overall support services to gallery volunteers, interns, staff, as well as artists and vendors.     
- Helped arrange space layout for special events as well as catering, and AV support when needed
- Coordinated with artists and external guests for travel booking, meeting schedules, and general hosting of guests
- Coordinated activities and hosting before and during events

Administrative Assistant

- Increased brand awareness and sales for clients in lifestyle, and financial industries through various marketing strategies 
- Online community management through direct channels and supporting software

Marketing Consultant

New York University Abu Dhabi

- Worked closely with Prof. Matteo Marciano on researching various topics in
   Music Technology and Mixing
- Completed a book proposal and an article
- Compiled annotated bibliographies, sources, and other cross-disciplinary materials relevant to the position

Research Assistant

NYUAD Arts Center

- Worked closely with the Senior Producers in helping execute The Arts Center’s season
- Made arrangements for artists based on their individual needs
- Executed general administrative functions, such as receipt reconciliation and preparing 
  welcome packets for guests
- Worked closely with the senior producers and supporting them in maintaining a     
   fruitful and stable relationship with the artists during their residency

Special Projects:
- Accompanied David Harrington and others to a Listening Session in Sharjah, UAE
- Escorted Angélique Kidjo to and from her performances and other engagements during her stay at NYU Abu Dhabi

Producing Intern

- Assisted Prof. Debra Levine for her J-Term course called “How Movement Makes Meaning” comprised of 15 students 
- Curated and compiled online Tome Book with contributions from the students 
- Assisted in the evaluation of student progress and curriculum development

Teaching Assistant

The Aeneid 

The Aeneid, directed by Sarah Cameron Sunde, was NYU Abu Dhabi's Mainstage Production in Fall 2017. My responsibilities included:
- Took notes during meetings & rehearsals for Sarah
- Conveyed my own thoughts and suggestions to the director at the appropriate moments
- Ensured actors received notes if the Director was otherwise occupied
- Instructed cast on moving scenic pieces most efficiently
