Homamo

Building on my experience as a startup founder, I formed Homamo as a ‘Head of Product for hire’ to help early-stage/pre-growth companies design and develop user-focused products and product teams.

My experience has been enriched by crossing many sectors — helping innovative property, financial, and biotech startups to make their technical product more human and understandable. I’ve designed and built patterns and systems that enable rapid development and iteration, and worked with large organisations to innovate and create internal products using a startup mindset.

The Goudies

The Goudies (GOW-dees) are husband and wife folk-country duo — Sam & Beth Goudie. Their close harmonies and honest sound have drawn comparison with Americana artists such as The Civil Wars and Gillian Welch & David Rawlings. 

As singers and songwriters they explore the relationship of love, faith, and the spaces in between — always ending in hope.   

At the start of 2021, whilst the UK was locked down, they started a weekly live stream (Tiny Show Tuesday) for their friends from their home, playing new songs and country covers — and finally decided to bring their solo projects together to form The Goudies.   

Whilst The Goudies is a new project, Sam & Beth have both been well received as solo musicians. Individually they have both been featured as BBC Wales Artist of the week (Sam as Elephant & Soldier) and been played on BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music, and local stations. They have also supported acclaimed artists such as Amy Wadge, Alfie Boe, and Jesca Hoop.   Their debut EP, When This is Over, is due to be released in July 2021. Recorded with just a single microphone in a room, the songs are an honest reflection on a time when everything was stripped away and we found out the things that matter.

In just one year our live polling platform Doopoll went from a simple prototype (built in one week) to a company valued at £1,000,000 and winner of the Sir Michael Moritz Startup Award. Our customers included O2, Admiral, and the Welsh Government.

Moving from doing everything myself in the scrappy early days, I built a successful, remote-first, product team and created a strategy where everyone in the company could capture user feedback and inform our
continuous improvement.

Across my career, I’ve worked on digital design, communication and user experience projects for global brands and organisations such as Netflix, Garnier, The National Archives, and Pepsi, as well as small businesses, artists, churches and charities.

Creative & Digital Design Consultant

Ethos

I worked with Ethos as they transitioned from a full service to a digital focused agency. In my time there I fulfilled many roles, and helped to develop the new studio brand.

My work there included visual design, campaign concepts, art direction, score composition, and copywriting. I also worked with a number of brands (including the studio) in creating language and tone of voice guidelines, helping them to speak clearly and consistently to their audience.

In order to better understand their clients, and their aims, I delivered workshops with key stakeholders to discover and agree the brief. It was in the this capacity that I also became the studio's UX Designer; 
creating information architecture, wireframes, and prototypes that designed to fulfil the needs of the user.

Apple Retail

As an Apple Certified Professional in Final Cut and Logic Pro I delivered training in a diverse range of skills, from professional film and music production through to digital and print design, using applications across the Apple suite.

My role required strong communication skills and patience in order to effectively engage learning on a personal level, whilst also representing the world's most respected brand.

Colour and Sound

Colour and Sound was a creative production company that created beautiful video for clients seeking a cinematic quality and creative presentation. We worked with businesses and charities as well as artists, musicians, writers and poets. In 2011 we worked with the National Archives to produce a series of interviews about the partition of India.

As part of a 3 month secondment in New Zealand, I was responsible for creating and launching an online edition of 'The Oceansider' (a sister company of Momenta).

Throughout my career I've used design, technology, words, art, music, and business to explore and communicate ideas, solve problems, and connect with people. 

I launch quickly and iterate continuously. Whether I'm designing a product, giving a talk, or writing a song, I work to make it focused and understandable - finding the human connection, and always in search of the simplest, purest form.
