I have in-depth knowledge of the core Maximo businesses - Maintenance, Inventory and Purchasing - so if someone needs to talk to the business, I can do that. I also have excellent knowledge of both the functional and technical sides of Maximo, gained over four different versions. This dual knowledge enables me to synergize between the functional and technical sides of Maximo when designing solutions, resulting in solutions that are creative, efficient and effective. From a solution design perspective, I place great importance on the following: 1) attempting to know the users' business as well as they do. This, of course, isn't possible, but an in-depth understanding makes me a much more effective solution architect. Most design requests from users are attempting to solve problems that are common to all clients. 2) listening to and truly comprehending what users tell me, so the true solution to their problem is found. It sometimes is not what they think it is. 3) using my understanding of Maximo to find a solution that works with Maximo default functionality as closely as possible, and utilizes the Maximo built-in configuration tools as much as possible. 4) keeping the design as simple as it can be, while still meeting the requirements. In my view, these practices are the keys to a well-designed Maximo installation with happy users - and happy support personnel.
