Here’s how I met my cousin via LinkedIn!!!



Haley Collavo, MBA is my cousin and has been a supremely talented healthcare marketing executive for almost 15 years. She just started a new position this past year as a C-suite at an employee wellness company. I have been in touch with her mom, my aunt, for almost five years now through mutual cousins. When my aunt found out about my LinkedIn marketing business two years ago, she connected me with Haley. However, she forgot to give me Haley’s number so I scouted LinkedIn, found her, sent her an InMail, and the rest is history.

Haley has been one of the biggest supporters in my business since its inception. She gave so much advice on our initial phone call that we ran out of time and had to schedule a part 2! Even though her background is very different from mine, we always had love and mutual respect for each other. We are also insanely similar personality wise and we joke about it all of the time.

Since our initial call, I’ve done multiple phone calls and text messages with her and her two sisters about anything and everything, both personal and professional. Even though we found each other later in life, we’ve been there for each other these past few years during the ups and downs. It’s always special when you have blood relatives that are in your corner.

This past Thanksgiving was the first time we finally had a chance to meet in real life (IRL). Although this picture is from Thanksgiving, which Haley and her husband graciously hosted, we ended up meeting 1-1 the day after at a local seafood restaurant on Lake Conroe. We discussed: the amount of transformation that happened for us both in 2025, leading teams effectively, the power of marketing strategy from the get-go, swapping a TON of family history stories, health and wellness, navigating relationships, and goals for 2026. The conversation lasted three hours and could have easily been longer!

LinkedIn IRL Series: East Coast meets West Coast



Kirsten H. is a phenomenal regional sales manager in the wound care space, and is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet. Originally from Southern California, Kirsten had a sun soaked childhood on the beach. We were first introduced to each other in the comment section via our mutual close friend ✒️Claire M. Davis🖋️. Over the past few months, we’ve been communicating via direct message and have built a great rapport. 

Kirsten has become much more active on LinkedIn within the past year and is a master of literary voice. Her writing and grammar skills are top notch, which have served her very well in communicating her thoughts on this platform. In fact, she is another shining example of how to build an effective personal brand on LinkedIn, yet adhere to the company that she works for. Kirsten also has an incredible sense of empathy, and uses it both in her writing and as a leader/mentor in medical device sales. 

We both share the same viewpoint that we are always students of the game. Even though Kirsten moved to Dallas recently and I was visiting Houston, we found a way to align our schedules to do an in-real life (IRL) meeting. We met at a French restaurant in Downtown Houston and our conversation flew by so fast. We discussed the power of LinkedIn and LinkedIn strategy, our respective transformational years this past year, personal and professional plans for 2026, faith, family, traveling, different types of cuisines, music and movies.
