Competenz is an industry training organisation that looks after 37 industries, big and small.  My role here had two parts, one was the product development of learning solutions and the other part is project management.  At the core of everything were our learners.  Everything my teams developed had a strong focus on being learner centric and keeping the learner experience at front of mind.

Forestry Project -(2500 learners, high literacy needs, strategy planning incl technology challenge): 
Leading a team of 15 Learning Designers and two external teams, we achieved developing and delivering over 300 resources for 6 Forestry qualifications (80 unit standards). These were a blend of both print, interactive and mobile solutions. All of which integrated seamlessly together.

Fire Protection Project - (350 learners, strategy for service, delivery, qualification and learning):
Working collaboratively across different business teams to develop fit for purpose solutions that both encourage on the job learning and collaboration between workplace, learner and assessor.

Wise Group

Part of the Wisegroup, Blueprint for Learning is one of New Zealand’s largest training providers in mental health and addiction, dedicated to both workforce development and community training.
Working with some of the most passionate people in mental health, I worked alongside the Education Director and head Clinical trainer to achieve two very diverse pieces of work:
1. Through research work done with dozens of HR teams in various industries throughout NZ, I uncovered a strong need for mental health support in the workplace.  This led to developing a business case that could help commercialise what Blueprint was already doing for community organisations.
2. Developed online learning, complete with an animated, bilingual character, to help support the Level 4 Support Worker qualification, giving learners a new way to access and learn content

Working with a diverse team of over 40 HR professionals gave me insights and opportunities to work closely with recruitment, organsational development, training delivery and health and safety experts. Key achievements included:
- redesigning the compliance suite, making it fun, memorable and informative. Tracking measures implemented showed that information retention with the new suite increased engagement.
- introducing new technology in the form of video and authoring tools that allowed team members to work more collaboratively and efficiently together.

In my six month contract with the learning team at PwC, I helped reassess and redesign technical training for the private business area which involved analysis and collaboration with key stakeholders and trainers.
An amazing opportunity arose to help with the online facilitation of the international leadership programme, giving me experience in running online, live sessions for talented employees around the world.

Are you aware of how much personal information your employer has access to... about you?

If your employer has given you a laptop, phone or any kind of digital device they can track and access everything you do on those devices. This isn't new but many, many people forget this. Don't.

With Ai also being much more prevalent now, employers are also using this not just to collate how you think, speak and communicate on all social platforms but PREDICT your behaviours and future potential 🤔

I'm seeing this more and more through organisations, and while Ai now provides the ability to give instant access to how your workforce is feeling (no need for surveys), and instantly flag them about potential bullying or hate language (which is useful), it's also being used in a way that borders unethical behaviour.

If you're not currently aware of your organisations privacy and how your personal information is used, including social media, I highly advise that you get up to speed on this or start asking.

If you're an employer that has a privacy policy and you're also now using Ai, I'd advise looking to see if all of the factors align with your ethical principles.
