I will be at your service!

I have received random suggestions on why I have chosen the “wrong” career.

Here are some hilarious ones:

1. One random morning, while I was getting ready for the gym, my father stopped me and said, “Why don’t you apply for government exams on the side? This would be appropriate for you.”

2. A lady in my gym (an IAS officer) advised me to practice law since she felt marketing wouldn’t last forever. She even suggested the exact area I should pursue: “Family Law”. (I’m actually considering it now)

3. Last year, while I was working with an edtech company, a guest said, “What are you doing in this education and all? You should practice law or prepare for the judiciary.” I only replied with one line: “But this job makes me happy.” My next question was going to be, “Are you happy with what you are doing?” (But I didn’t ask)

These are the highlights. There are many more stories.

But I don’t understand when::

I am happy and passionate about my work.
It gives me respect from people I want.
It allows me to work from anywhere.
I make handsome money.

Why should I change my career path?
Isn’t this what we all want?

When I was getting into Personal Branding and Business Development, I knew that the work wouldn’t be that tough, but people’s opinions would be something I would have to quietly swallow. Because if I respond, they would win. The only answer to it is “ACTION”.

I have come to this realisation lately, that you can never satisfy people regardless of the profession you choose (what they think or what you want to do).

So, it’s actually better to do the things you want to do! People will say what they want to, that’s human nature. You take in only the opinions you want to.

I got a job offer from a Tier 1 Law Firm in May 2024. LinkedIn played a major part in it.

I saw the job on LinkedIn, applied through LinkedIn, and then showed proof of work again through LinkedIn.

But you would love to know what happened before.

Before this offer, I had already given almost 20+ interviews in 2023-24.

I couldn’t crack the ones I wanted to. 
It was all because of a lack of clarity about everything.
And it showed on my face too. (Recruiters can sense it.)

What exactly changed from 2023 to 2024?

It’s a single fact: I started posting content in Jan 2024.

I started to understand what people really want. And I also found my calling.

Whenever I sat for an interview, people already knew me. They knew who they were talking to. Of course, my CV aligned with the job requirements, but LinkedIn did the job way before I entered that Zoom call.

So when you prepare for an interview, you only look at it from one window.

I became an Associate in my 3rd year of law school.

2018: 1st year of law school
2019: Interned at iPleaders in December
2020: Worked with them alongside college
2021: Received an offer to become an Associate

From the first day of college, I told myself that I wanted to be independent, no matter what.

I gave myself some time to adjust during the initial years, and I used the COVID period to my advantage. That’s how I bagged this role.

Here’s how I did it:

1/ I treated every internship like a real job
↳ Even though most of them were unpaid.

2/ I worked with complete dedication on every task
↳ I always made things easier for my seniors.

3/I asked questions to double-check my work
↳ It showed that I was serious and curious.

4/ I was always the first to take up assignments
↳ It helped me build trust and credibility.

Eventually, one place noticed it and hired me.

With that income, I bought courses, covered basic essentials and got things my parents wouldn’t allow me to have.

Now, I have decided to coach 15 law students for the next 45 days. We begin on October 5, and the form closes in 3 days!

In August, I decided to coach 5 people to “Make your first ₹5,000 as a Law Student” through my 45 Days Program.

But I had to include 7 people, because of high demand.

One of them made ₹5,000 (not his first), while the other 6 learned what it really takes to make their first ₹5,000.

I hired 1 for my team as well!

Initially, I thought I would only do one batch, since it requires a lot of my bandwidth. 

That’s because I:

1. Don’t send recordings → We do LIVE classes.

2. Don’t give homework → We do LIVE activities.

3. Don’t have one approach for all → Because one size doesn’t fit everyone.

4. Don’t give the same strategy to all → Because everyone has different goals and skills

5. Don’t leave anyone to figure things out → I do 1:1 sessions to clear doubts.

We keep the groups small so nobody feels intimidated like the one in a college or a school classroom. This program is my way of undoing what traditional education did to you.

I have made 3-5 lakhs a year as a law student. And I don’t have a single penny saved from it.

All went into investing in:
1. Education
2. Buying courses
3. Upskilling through Programs
4. And ofcourse my daily expenses.

I wasn’t earning through freelancing; it was a full-time role.
I progressed from an Intern → Senior Intern → Associate.

I know I wasn’t making tons of money, because I was so engrossed in the work I was doing, I didn’t think about numbers. (No regrets)

I started with Rs. 3000/month and scaled upto Rs. 30000 a month by the time I reached my final year. 

The growth was because I was working with a startup. An interesting part about startups is that you scale faster as an individual. 

My junior(friend’s brother) is making a similar amount in his final year. He is working with an AI startup and he knows he already has a job in hand before he graduates.

I saw people starting at Rs. 10,000 and making upto Rs. 1 Lakh a year in my company.

I don’t know if people are exploring legal or non-legal startups while being a law student or not.

I can’t tell you the amount of joy I have when an underrated person does things that blow your mind.

I was constantly asking her, “what’s happening with the DMs? Are you doing something about your internship?”

And for the next 2 days, she was constantly sending DMs and, to my surprise, she started getting results as well.

She was consistently messaging people on LinkedIn with super personalised messages.

I guess I am going too far, this was 5 years ago..

Nobody was taking it seriously.

So, I found that one student was amazing with content and awareness around his content. I discovered this while evaluating an exercise in a live class.

You just need two things to make an impression:
1) Do a little extra than what was asked.
2) Be ready to try everything that's given to you.

I have started doing this whenever I feel that a person is trained enough or good at a job. I refer them to someone who needs such people or hire them for my team.

I follow a simple rule: I only refer to people I know are good at what they do. It's because my reputation is also tied to the organizations and places I refer people to.

I don’t want them to think that this person is sending random people out there.

So, one of the goals is to help people identify what they are good at, then train them, and finally send them to people who want such talent.

Most law students struggle during internships. Because they are still thinking like students, instead of thinking like lawyers

That’s the biggest mindset gap. And until you shift it, you’ll keep doing “intern” work, not real legal work.

Here’s what that shift looks like:

1. From “Understanding the Law” → “Applying the Law”
As a student, you are taught to interpret sections and memorise case laws.
But as a lawyer, you must ask:
→ Does this apply to my client’s case?
→ Which jurisdiction does this fall under?
→ Is this even relevant in this factual scenario?

2. From “Perfect Answers” → “Practical Solutions”
The goal isn't to impress the professor.
It's to give the client a workable, timely, and low-risk way forward.

3. From “Marks” → “Client Outcomes”
Your 10/10 won’t serve the client.
What matters:
→ Was the compliance clear?
→ Did the draft protect the client?
→ Did your input reduce future risk?

4. From “Learning Mode” → “Ownership Mode”
Interns who just “wait for tasks” don’t stand out.
Interns who ask “What more can I do?” do.

5. From “Fear of Being Wrong” → “Confidence in Decision-Making”
You won’t always have all the facts.
But you still need to suggest something.
Identify all the problems that may arise and offer solutions.

6. From “Solo Study” → “Client and Team Collaboration”
You usually study for your exams in isolation.
Law practice is more collaborative and business-driven.
Communication, empathy and managing expectations are core skills.

Initially, when I used to post daily on LinkedIn, a lot of people from the legal industry suggested to me that I was going a little overboard. You are posting a lot. It's too much.

Why shouldn’t I?

I know when you do things which are not normal, it’s difficult for people to accept in the beginning. 

As long as you believe in what you do, nothing should stop you. You are bound to see the compounded results in future.
