Shaping and leading multiple business development initiatives to deliver portfolio and revenue growth, I spearheaded a prepaid card issuing project from inception through to project close out and delivery. Working with a dedicated business development team, clients and stakeholders to strengthen sales pipelines and deliver all targets, I ensured that all BDM activities aligned with overall bank business objectives.

Here, I tracked EMI/MSB licence applications in UK, Canada and Hong Kong to ensure regulatory compliance, AML/KYC and worked with customers to understand their needs and then developed a range of products to meet these needs.

I also reviewed team sales performance and examined ways to improve the customer selling experience to secure robust sales pipelines across all products and ensure a steady flow of new customers into bank.

Taking a new E-Learning & AML/KYC products and consultancy services such as compliance, operation and corporate governance to wide range of financial institutions, I also connected with new markets by developing marketing campaigns to appeal to different sectors and consolidated growth by gaining referrals with existing customers and establishing trust with their contacts.  

Here, I drove growth through careful management of P&L and alignment with business development strategy as well as authoring operational processes, including marketing, sales, administration and asset management. I also maximized performance for all business and sales channels by utilizing management best practice to deliver growth through streamlined operational management and renewed focus on maximizing upsell opportunities through greater customer engagement.

I worked with a broad customer base and collaborated with the client to define their requirements and develop plans to meet then exceed expectations. Always evolving to meet client needs, I analysed the E-learning market to ensure continual growth and evolution to pre-empt market shifts.

Overseeing a balance sheet of worth over $150M balance sheet and 400+ employees, I delivered effective governance bank-wide across all domains including sales, marketing and new products. I successfully secured new bank rating from Camel Rating 4 to Camel Rating 3 as well as generating increased revenue following write off of losses from 2009 to 2013 and reduction in NPL from $11.2M to $2.9M in 2015. Complying with AML/CFT local regulator guidelines as well as internal AML Compliance policy and procedures.  

Managing a $1.5M marketing budget, I secured additional growth by representing bank at various conferences as well as creating customer service strategy to ensure best possible customer journey across all touch points. Here, I worked with the Sales Managers to carry out performance analysis against KPIs to deliver financial performance, profitability, and growth. I also supported all teams in identifying potential clients and delivering sales presentations to high net worth clients.
 
As Chairman of the board for national switch (APS) project from 2012-2015, I controlled a $5M budget to deliver improved service delivery bank-wide by identifying and resolving underperformance as well as developing our customer offering through feedback from client and implementing ongoing service improvement.

Regulatory oversight in action: UAE Central Bank intensifies enforcement.

The UAE Central Bank has stepped up its supervisory role, imposing over AED 250 million in fines this year alone across banks, exchange houses, and insurers.

The largest single penalty reached AED 200 million against one exchange house, with additional sanctions on foreign bank branches and insurers for AML/CFT failings and reporting violations (CRS/FATCA).

What does this signal?
A clear message that regulators are serious about safeguarding the integrity of the financial system.
A heightened focus on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing compliance.
