My main talent, is the ability to release other people's talents. The swordless samurai. 

The first objective is to show organisations how to uplift their business performance to World Class levels and lift the spirits of the people that work in them.

The  second objective is to bring fun/enjoyment and job satisfaction back into the workplace.

I started my career on the shop floor 67 years ago and have worked through manufacturing, industrial engineering, sales and marketing in both operational and management positions. This enables me to bring an all round view to  the World Class journey.

The ultimate goal is to create organisations that can compete successfully in the global economy now and in the future, and are secure, challenging and enjoyable/fun places to work.

MISTAKES AND PROBLEMS -- OUR GREATEST TEACHERS 
We should not see mistakes and problems as obstructions to our progress, but as a source of valuable instructions on how to proceed more effectively.                                                                                                         We must always remember mistakes and problems always come in pairs. The first one is the mistake you have just made or discovered. The second occurs when you do not take the time to understand the cause of the mistake, and ensure that your understanding, skills & procedures are improved, so it cannot recur. The correction of the second should closely follow the discovery of  thefirst.
Vilfredo confirmed this attitude “Give me afresh fruitful mistake any time, full of seeds, bursting with its own correction.” Vilfredo Pareto.                         Line-stop is a key element of Toyota’s quality & engagement activities. When Lean was extracted from TPS, its importance was not appreciated. Ohno explained it. “Stopping the machine when there is trouble (displays all the seeds needed for its correction.) forces awareness on everyone. When a problem is clearly understood improvement is possible." Taiichi Ohno.                                                                                                                      A final thought. We should not see mistakes and problems as stone walls blocking our progress, but as stepping stones leading to our improved understanding and abilities.

MINDSET AND THE SUSTAINABLE ATTITUDES IT CREATES. 
 KEY ELEMENTS OF CULTURE CHANGE AND WALKING THE FLOOR 
 As important as what you do when you walk the floor, is the attitude you take with you. Whoever you meet you must see as your equal (toilet cleaner or managing director), & a fellow team member working to make the company more successful & our jobs secure. This is practising of the key elements missing from many TPS/lean programs, RESPECT* and HOPE* between managers and their people. Wearing the same clothing is one of the easiest ways to send this message. With the correct visual management system in place, part of which will have the main deployed goals & Kaizen activities on display, the issues for comment & discussion should be obvious to anybody walking 'in' the area. Don't walk 'by’, walk 'in'. Remember, our Gemba people's activities are creating the Products, Services & Experiences to satisfy our customer’s needs. They also earn all our wages. Our job is to support them in those activities. --- Your feet are one of your most effective communication devices. Where you place them tells people what & where you think is important. Let it be your feet not your bottom, that sends this message. OBOF will do this: Off Bottom Onto Feet.' Some managers don't realise they need legs to do their job.
