We passed 5K subs on the AdConversion YouTube channel 🥳🔔

I started posting back in 2018, here's 4 lessons I've learned: 

1/ Consistency over intensity 

This is a lesson that I have still yet to actually apply. The story of my YouTube channel has been on and off, posting sporadically at times in bursts and then falling away into the shadows never to be heard from again. And I have friends that have started posting on YouTube around the same time as I, and the difference is I have 5,000 subscribers because I would post a bit and then I would fall off and never be heard of again. They just kept posting one video a week for years, and they have hundreds of 100,000s subscribers. So really, posting consistently intentionally matters more than intensity. Don't commit to a high posting frequency if you can't actually sustain it over the long haul. 

2/ SEO first, discovery second 

YouTube is a search engine, and creating content at first, when you have a small channel that gets ranked and indexed, is really important. So you can get your initial subscribers and viewership.

In the beginning, don't just talk about whatever you want to talk about. Really focus from an SEO-first mindset so you can get indexed, get that initial base of subscribers and viewers. And then in the future, once you're a big channel, you can create content that's more topical to what your audience cares about and less around what the search engines will actually index.

Because once you're a bigger channel, your videos will get pushed into the YouTube home page, browse, and suggested videos where you'll get a lot of net new viewership. 

3/ Thumbnails matter more than videos

You can have the best video in the world, but if no one clicks on your thumbnail, it doesn't matter. So really focusing on your thumbnails and ensuring you have high CTRs relative to your channel is really important. Spend more time thinking about your thumbnails, optimizing your thumbnails, and getting the help you need to create great thumbnails. 

4/ Give it 3-6 months to perform

YouTube is a long game. I have videos that I posted years ago that are still getting views today. The shelf life on a video is incredible on YouTube, and the return on your effort for the videos you produce can really be astronomical.

However, when you post a new video, especially if you're a new channel, you can't measure success within the first week, two weeks, or even first month. You have to give it three to six months to perform.

Oftentimes what happens is you post videos in the beginning. You don't get much traction. If anything, all of a sudden fast forward three months, the algorithm picks it up for whatever reason. And then you really start to get viewership.

This is what my Slack looked like this morning - 16 alerts pending my approval to pause underperforming ads that got flagged by Sami ⤵️

Instead of having to login into 3 different ad managers (LinkedIn, Google, Meta)

I built an automation that notifies me of ad fatigue in Slack 🔥

It took me 5-minutes to build, here's what it does:

• Monitors CTR drops below your threshold (say, 0.5% for LinkedIn retargeting)
• Tracks frequency increases above optimal range (3-5 impressions per week)
• Sends instant Slack notification: "Time for a refresh on your LinkedIn Ads!"
• Automatically pauses ads that hit your fatigue threshold

It works across LinkedIn, Meta, and YouTube.

Here's 6 creative concepts to inspire your next campaign that we designed for CoderPad ⤵️ (number 6 is my personal favorite) 

1/ ChatGPT - Hey Chat, what's the best way to solve my problem? Oh that's easy, insert [your product] + [your benefits]

2/ Typographic - This is a tried and true, simple creative concept based on bold text and simple messaging. Grab attention with a clear headline, then back it up with a sub-headline and call to action. 

3/ Comparison - Similar to the famous before and after, a comparison shows what it's like to use your product, compared to not using it. Make it visually distinct. In our example, we use body language, color, and feature. 

4/ Message App - People are nosey and love to see what's the buzz about. Show a simple conversation visual and your audience will follow along to see what's the scoop. Our example blends a common native concept with a branded color system. 

5/ Logo Cloud - Build credibility by showing your audience know which other brands are already using your product. They did already... so you can too. 

6/ Event Tickets - Digital events don't require physical tickets, but for some reason, physical ticket concepts tend to work. This ticket visual could inspire a sense of nostalgia, or a feeling of real-world value, even though it's an on-demand webinar.

Last month, I spoke to three agency founders who hate their lives.

These people are "winning" when you look at MRR but on the road to burnout.

Triple-digit growth. Thousands of followers. The kind of LinkedIn presence that screams success. But when we actually got talking, the reality was brutal.

One founder hasn't taken a real day off in 18 months. He's managing 40 clients with a team built for maybe 15. Wakes up every morning with a pit in his stomach because he knows he's one bad month away from everything falling apart.

Another admitted he doesn't even enjoy running his agency anymore. The growth looks incredible on paper, but he's so buried in operations and client fires that he hasn't done actual strategic work in months. 

The third guy told me: "I keep saying yes to everything because I have to hit our revenue goal" No one likes to miss targets but sometimes you need to step back.

They're all trapped. They have to keep growing to justify the overhead, but the growth is happening faster than they can build the infrastructure to support it.

Here's the crazy part.

When they asked about AdConversion and how we operate, I walked them through our systems, how we've built the team, and our fulfillment process. 

They were blown away. One of them said "that's next level."

Our MRR growth isn't even close to theirs. Probably half their rate. But we're building something sustainable. Something that doesn't require me to sacrifice my sanity or burn out my team.

That conversation reminded me of something.

Everyone is playing their own game.

Those founders look successful from the outside, and in some ways they are. But success means different things to different people.

For me, it's not just about how fast you grow. It's about building something you actually want to run five years from now. 

Something that doesn't consume your entire life.

The best business isn't the fastest-growing one. It's the one you're still excited to wake up and work on.

Don't compare your behind-the-scenes to someone else's highlight reel.

Build something that lasts. Build something you're proud of. Build something that lets you actually enjoy your life. That's the game worth playing.

Last week we 4X’d MQL to SQL conversion rate for a SaaS client in the construction industry, here’s what we found when we took over ⤵️

• MQL > SQL conversion was stuck at 7%
• CPL was in the four-figures 😅
• Incentives weren’t landing with their audience
 
Instead of throwing bigger incentives at the problem.
 
We dug deeper into what actually drives response in this industry:

(𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘵, 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢 $250 𝘈𝘮𝘢𝘻𝘰𝘯 𝘨𝘪𝘧𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘥𝘴)

1/ We reframed the incentive as a “Lunch & Learn” (which is culturally aligned with how deals actually start in construction).
 
2/ Optimized sender strategy, leaning on the co-founder’s credibility instead of faceless ads.
 
3/ Launched ungated content + remarketing to warm up the funnel before the hard ask.
 
After all of this, we saw: 

• SQL rate jumped from 7% > 28% (4X lift)
• CPL dropped by 66%
• Sales got the right conversations, not random leads.
 
Sometimes the play isn’t bigger spend, it’s cultural alignment.
