My first program was a depreciation plan on a programmable calculator to speed up my homework. In doing so, I realized that I could exchange tedious calculations for an activity halfway between creativity and craftsmanship. And also, move the search for errors well before the verification in class. Not to mention the satisfaction of being a kind of magician. In my subsequent professional activity, I learned the hard way lot of things, like you never cared enough to understand what customers want, great tools are necessary but not sufficient, and methodology may help. So embracing AGILE technology that involves the frequent release of intermediate versions and tight communications with stakeholders was a natural step. I like to think the making of software is like building a ship. The objective is the ship, but the result is the trips it will make. "If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea". (Antoine de Saint-Exupery) Because when the why is powerful, the how will follow.
