Pandu Alam Lestari Foundation

Pandu Alam Lestari foundation is a unique organization. 100% led by locals, PAL focuses on supporting communities in Central Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. We are dedicated to creating sustainable solutions for the local economy. Our current project focuses on rehabilitating ex-forest-fire areas in Bawan village. We aim to improve the income of farmers based on new regenerative economic models mostly by planting local agricultural crops, forest fruits, and native trees, creating biodiversity-rich systems that benefit local people, animals, and the natural ecosystem. We are proud to collaborate with indigenous communities, the district government, local universities, and the most skilled staff to achieve our goals. Project management forest restoration in Indonesia and Uganda.
• Coordinated on-the-ground operations among 1,200 smallholder farmers in Indonesia
• Set up new country restoration program in Uganda
• Managed digitization project TREEO funded through the Google Impact Challenge 2018
• Researched and advise Carbon Forestry program development
• Designed biodiversity research trials and collaborated with local and international universities
• Partnership management with NGOs, universities, governmental agencies and research organizations in Indonesia and Uganda

I provided support in various projects in the Climate Division, whereas my tasks involved:
• Review of Vietnam's forest policy and comparative analysis of INDC LULUCF and REDD+ reference level. 
• Research on how to widen the scope of poductive forests in the REDD+ agenda, in specific the recognition of harvested wood products in a country's carbon balance and sustainable forest management.
• Research and analyze impact investment funds and equity funds targeting agriculture and forestry in East Africa.

•	Measured and monitored plant growth in urban forest plots in a PhD research project to measure the impacts of climatic changes on Pinus sylvestris pine growth

•	Led team of five to establish indigenous tree nursery to provide seedlings to local communities and to generate new sources of income from timber, fruits and handcrafts
•	Organized environmental awareness campaigns and trained community in information sessions about the use of natural ecosystems and conducted reforestation projects with various groups
