DevOps Engineer

I worked on operations tasks like tagging resources, cleaning nodes, creating databases accounts, updating environments, solving different bugs and many others. I learned the basics of new technologies like Jenkins, OpenSearch, Prometheus, Python boto3, NGINX, Kibana or orchestration tools like Ansible and Terraform and many others. I also learned to manage my time to be responsive to multiple tasks and work on other tasks while waiting for review for other tasks. I Learned how to do research and to use Atlassian, Jira, Slack and other management applications to transmit the results that I get from research work.

Romanian Space Initiative (ROSPIN)

I am responsible for the development team for the ROSPIN website. I manage the tasks to have an updated website for the organization, I also mentor the team members when they have difficulties in the implementation process. When the team is not available for updates or emergencies, I implement the solutions. 
My team has 4 developers, 2 UX/UI engineers and 2 designers.

ROSPIN Website Responsible

I am preparing events for local communities in order to gather space enthusiasts in all cities that ROSPIN has influence to offer them the right place to develop the space industry in Romania. There are events organized to teach people new things, promote ROSPIN's educational programs and practical projects and bring the space industry closer to the enthusiasts from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Iasi, Pitesti, Bacau and Deva.
In order to do that there are ambassadors in every city and I am managing their activities to be sure that every plan we agree with is working as established.

Community Manager

After being the project manager for ROSPIN School in the previous year, I accepted to supervise the next project manager to share knowledge. My main job was to see if every management part of the project is done and to observe how the team works. In the first stage of the project, I had to share all the knowledge with the next project manager.

ROSPIN School Project Supervisor

ROSPIN School is a project organized by Romanian Space Initiative in collaboration
with Romanian Science Festival. This program is for high school students from all over
Romania and it was organized in the spring of 2022 with a number of over 300 participants.
My main involvement in this project had two big points. One of them was to define the
project (being at the first edition), and the second was as a coordinator of all the teams that
ROSPIN offered me so that we could realize one of the most ambitious extracurricular
programs in the space field from Romania.

 -I was the main person who promoted this project to people.
 -I organized the participants making teams and taking care about the platform where they could talk with us.
-I took care about every lecture and every quiz to be delivered at the specified time. 
 -I checked if grades for quizzes were delivered in time and for every student and if not I graded them manually.
 -I organized the programming lecture and programming chapter from the handbook we delivered to the students.
 -I completely organized a little programming competition between the teams and I graded their work.
 -I organized a jury for the final grades of the competition.

-I initiated the creation of a community of space enthusiasts in Cluj-Napoca under
the tutelage of the Romanian Space Initiative (ROSPIN).
-I have made contact with a lot of organizations that will help us with various future projects.

European Space Design Competition (EUSDC)

I had the opportunity to work with experienced people in space sector and to be alongside them a mentor for a highschool students team formed by 25 pupils. I learned a lot of new things about the design of a space mission design for lunar surface. I had the surprise that the team I mentored won(Kepler Team) and that is fully awarded by the pupils from the team. They were absolutely amazing and it was really tough to decide who wil qualify for the next phases.

Festivalul Internațional Volare

I was Presenter at Volare International Festival in Piatra-Neamț. It was a really great opportunity to introduce a lot of young talents who showed us their potential. It was a really nice opportunity to work alongside big artists from Romania.

I started this internship with basic knowledge of operating systems(especially Linux and Windows) and I managed to finish with a lot of new knowledge. I will explain below everything I did.

 - I started by learning about vagrant and how I can start a virtual machine locally with Vagrant and how to manipulate it with Vagrantfile. I managed to create multiple virtual machines to run at the same time one either for the database or another for the application. I used a basic web application for a user login system.
 - After Vagrant I moved on to Dockers. I found out that dockers are more effective especially because  I can configure an image more as I want and because the connection between containers is easier considering I don't have to specify in the app the IP addresses because they can see between them without any intervention from me.
 - Next step was to work with Ansible and I learned that ansible can reduce a lot of scripts that I wrote to automize the deployment process.
 - After Ansible, I learned Terraform and more about Microsoft Azure Cloud and AWS Cloud. I worked a lot with Microsoft Azure and I moved on to another application. This time the application was huge because was the internal HR application(Matrix) and it was our main project. I had to make it run from local servers of the company up on the cloud(Microsoft Azure or AWS). I and my colleague managed this in a week and a half. 

With all this knowledge and a lot of friends made at COERA, I agreed at the end of the internship to continue working as a Trainee DevOps Engineer from October to December 2022 with the possibility to continue from 2023 as a Junior DevOps Engineer and to go beyond with all the amazing people who worked there. Another thing I learned from this internship is that financial benefits are less important when I have great people around me and also to be happy to come to work and be sad that I have to go home by the end of the day.
