DAVY is a maritime e-mobility startup. We have invented the first zero-emission high-performance powertrain for boats / yachts. Based on a hybrid fuelcell-battery-system, the powertrain has a redundant operating mode and is scalable due to the specific application scenario. It is our mission to initiate the world's transition towards a sustainable mobility on water – without compromising in the areas of acceleration or driving pleasure. We present our powertrain in a 28ft-daycruiser-boat under the brand name “Purity”.

In my 12 years of solving design problems, I've noticed it's easy to fall into certain traps:

One big mistake is bringing too much of your opinion into the design.

Your designs must reflect the client's needs, not only your personal taste.

You need to look at projects from the client's perspective and be able to justify your choices with solid reasoning.

Another common oversight is ignoring the business case.

Design isn't only about aesthetics; it's also about fulfilling business objectives.

If a design turns out too costly, it's not the client's fault.

This indicates that the designer hasn't fully considered the client's budget and goals.

Striking the right balance between creativity and cost-effectiveness is crucial.

Remember, effective design is about aiding business growth and satisfying customers.

Always aim to keep your designs impactful and aligned with client expectations.

If yes, you might want to think again.

There's a problem with consistency in these certifications.

Because there's no single standard for sustainability, what's 'sustainable' can vary between certifications.

And let's be real, some businesses might use these certifications for a marketing boost rather than actual sustainable practices, a tactic known as greenwashing.

Furthermore, the verification process for these certifications can sometimes be inadequate.

Without rigorous checks, some companies may appear more sustainable than they actually are.

Certifications can be indicative of a company's intentions, but they don't always paint the full picture of its practices.

It's always good to do your own research to see how a company lives up to its green claims.

For businesses, real trust comes from being transparent and actually following through on sustainable practices.
