From Medical Student to Convicted Drug Dealer to CEO of Breakthrough Social Enterprise – it’s been a remarkable journey over the past decade. These experiences have taught me about society, human nature, and life’s diverse pathways. I consider myself one of the fortunate ones. After my release from prison, I returned home, went to university, and took part-time jobs to sustain myself. Many of my peers weren’t as lucky, returning to unstable environments with limited options. During a walk, a friend I met in prison remarked, "You went from medical school to the school of life." That phrase stayed with me, capturing the essence of my journey. Prison was a defining experience, where I met talented, charismatic, and ambitious people. Yet, I questioned why their exceptional abilities couldn't break the cycle of crime. The answer was clear: poverty and trauma. These challenges permeate our criminal justice system, present in police stations, courts, and prisons across the nation. My mission, and the work we do at Breakthrough, is to alleviate the burden of poverty and trauma on society. Breakthrough focuses on preparing people for future industries, particularly AI and technology, creating pathways for those often overlooked to access internet-based careers. We believe in a compassionate, inclusive, and safer society that tackles crime at its roots by addressing poverty and trauma. Our programmes equip people with the skills to thrive in the digital age, ensuring they’re not left behind. We lead with purpose, passion, and a commitment to transforming lives by preparing people today for the technologies of tomorrow. Through our work, we aspire to redefine how society perceives, supports, and integrates those who have faced adversity, creating a future where everyone has the chance to build a sustainable, fulfilling life.

🔥 From Prison Cells to AI Stacks I just dropped a new blog on Linkedin. This one's personal. When people hear "gap year," they think travel, discovery, soul-searching. Mine was prison. But that year gave me clarity. Not just about my own life, but about the broken logic of a society that locks away its most resilient, adaptive, and system-literate minds — while trying to build a future they could be leading. At Breakthrough Social Enterprise, we’re not just teaching tech. We’re building a new economy from the margins. This isn’t about inclusion for optics. It’s about initiation with purpose. 🧠 If you care about justice, AI, the future of work, or building systems that actually serve everyone — I’d love for you to read this:

The Future of AI must be build with Global Majority Communities in mind. In a time where certain political figures aim to eradicate the progress made in diversity, equity and inclusion It's never been more important for us to stand tall to stop inequalities, institutional racism, sexism and classism being permanently embedded in our AI models. Don't get me wrong I'm all for an AI-driven and fully-integrated society. But first, we need to take an honest and transparent look at the datasets being used to train these models. Remember, biased data will lead to biased AI that will permanently block underserved groups out of our society. So let's unlock opportunities and a more equitable future for all of us. Because after all, we're all human!

I asked OpenAI's ChatGPT the following question: Be entirely honest - what's the likelihood that AI misguides humanity towards dominance? 🫨 🤯 Here's what it told me:

I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid but wasn't treated because I was still doing well in my studies despite constantly getting into trouble 🤔 As a 29 year old, I realised it was worth getting assessed again and guess what?! I still got it 😂 It led me to realise that my productivity and working routine could be summarised in two words: ChAoTiC DiSCiPlINe If you can't read the chaos It spells Chaotic discipline 😂

During a meditation retreat - the teacher would constantly say the word 'anicca' Anicca means impermanence It can be broken down into this: - Everything is constantly changing; nothing will ever be static. - The 'self' or 'identity' is always changing - do not cling to it - The good, the bad and the ugly are always changing - just enjoy the view 😄 Honestly, anytime anything happens in my life, I like to sit and notice how it's changing Awareness and presence can really set us free!

This hits different - especially for those of us who were never taught how to sit with difficult emotions. One of our learners said something yesterday that has left me questioning my worldview 🌏 "In our pursuit for artificial intelligence, aren't we forsaking natural intelligence?" In the last 24 hours, I've thought about this alot. There's a unique interplay of intelligence that's created our beautiful natural world. It's stated in many ancient texts and traditions The intelligence of the forest, the ability for animals to tell the weather and how ecosystems exist in harmony without intervention Our intuition, emotions and our bodies that have evolved over millions of years to create the world in front of us In a civilisation where we invest a substantial amount of our resources into building better, more efficient and 'intelligent' technology. Are we forgetting the very technology that enabled us to get to where we are today? Unless we can balance material progress with holistic thinking - won't we be rapidly heading towards catastrophe as a species?

    7

The biggest unfair advantage in 2025 is the ability to use technology 💻 Being able to: - Create content - Use AI - Solve problems using software and hardware These are the building blocks of socioeconomic mobility. But don't forget, becoming obsessed with your screens has a cost. So build that business, buy your time and climb those trees 😂

    17

At Breakthrough Social Enterprise - we are looking for an HR consultant to help us integrate a culture based on: - Love - Compassion - Kindness - Altruism While helping us improve at giving our people the best experience, while providing learners with a route to a futuristic education that helps to heal the world! 🌏 Tag someone you know ☺️ Share the post with your network 😄 Help us find the best human possible 👏 Leave a comment to spread the word 😁

Evil happens when good men stand by and do nothing. If you work in or use our criminal justice system - make your voices heard. Whatever you see or do day to day, you are a witness. A witness to the pain and suffering that staff, prisoners and other customers undergo to continue running a broken system. Courage and bravery are necessary to help make change. If we care about this nation, we must be willing to have difficult conversations. Silence is complicit - only through the truth can we begin to rebuild, reform and realign our criminal justice system with the best interests of the UK.

    26

"Do not judge a nation by how it treats its highest citizens, but by how it treats its lowest. If you want to know the truth of a nation, go inside its prison walls." Nelson Mandela It was an honour to speak at the Royal College of Nursing - Company's opening of the first ever Prison Nursing Exhibition. Prisons are a shadow of our society. We all have a shadow. The same love, compassion and kindness we show ourselves in times of crisis, we should endeavour to show those within our prisons. It's the true measure of our nation. How willing are we to forgive those who've wronged us? How willing are we to love those most disconnected from the mainstream? If we aren't willing, what does it say about us?

Go Early. Go Honest. Go Loud. Because most dreams don’t vanish from failure. They fade in the quiet. Smothered by delay. Eclipsed by perfectionism. Buried under the weight of second-guessing. We’re trained to wait. To sand down our edges. To over-prepare. To earn our way in by shrinking. To be digestible before we’re visible. But the world doesn’t bend for the most polished. It bends for the most present. The ones who dare to move while they’re still in the making. I used to think I had to be ready. Until I learned that readiness is a myth, And arrival is a decision. From a prison cell to policy rooms. From silence to keynote stages. I found out that transformation rarely sends an invitation. It just asks if you're brave enough to say yes before you feel worthy. We overthink our way out of becoming. While someone else speaks up with less experience but more conviction. We wait to feel safe, Not realising that safety was never the point. Truth is. The ones who rise are not always the most talented. They're just the ones who said, "I'm not hiding anymore." I've seen it happen everywhere: In campaign pitches where the underdog set the tone. In community halls where the unheard became the heartbeat. In job interviews, policy bids, and investor calls; Where confidence beat credentials every single time. So here’s what I know now: You don’t get more credible by waiting. You get more powerful by walking into the room - before the room is ready for you. Five lessons that shaped my leadership journey: Movement teaches what stillness can’t. Your clarity comes after you act, not before. Fear doesn’t mean stop. It means there’s something sacred on the other side of risk. Choose yourself out loud. Before waiting for someone else to co-sign your worth. Your story shifts atmospheres. Don’t underestimate how your voice can disrupt, heal, or open doors. Legacy favours the imperfect. It’s built by people who said yes too early and figured it out along the way. So if you're holding back your truth, If you’ve downsized your dream to fit someone else’s comfort, If you’ve been silent so long you forgot the sound of your own conviction This is your reminder: Say the thing. Take the step. Start the work. Send the email. Apply anyway. Speak anyway. Lead anyway. Go early. Go honest. Go loud. The world doesn’t remember who waited. It remembers who moved.
