A great show curated by @readingmalcolmgarrett with the support of many friends and colleagues. The show explored David’s entire career as a designer, writer and educator. An exhibition of new works from students and staff from UAL @mcrschart and the designers he worked with @designmcr responded to the theme of his most recent work Authenticity. A great evening celebrating a truly remarkable man and dear friend.

THE FIRST EVER RHS URBAN SHOW HAS KICKED OFF IN MANCHESTER

This is the first ever Urban Show to be hosted by the RHS, celebrating gardens and horticulture in a setting the more than 220 year old charity is a little less renowned for.

Opening today at the Depot Mayfield, the joy of urban gardening will be embraced over three days of inventive exhibitions and installations.

Exploring the ‘cutting-edge of modern gardening’, it will take in everything from how to garden in small, urban spaces to an quirky exhibit celebrating the Manchester music scene.

Midlands-based garden designer Amanda Grimes will present Pop Culture Planting: Punk Rockery, the New Wave and 24-Hour Party Planting, an exhibit which takes in influences from some unlikely places.

Meanwhile, viral gardening influencer Jason Williams, who with his Instagram page The Cloud Gardener has brought garden design from his 18th floor balcony to a whole new audience on social media, will also be showing what would-be gardeners can do with what might be deemed the ungardenable.
