With Longhouse Water150, I am building one of the biggest, if not THE BIGGEST web3 impact project.
🌊 Water is the foundation of life itself. 80% of global biodiversity can be found near natural springs, untouched by mankind. A human being needs about 1 000 liters (264 gallons) of water every year to sustain a healthy life. 

But clean drinking water is scarce, and that is a global problem, yes USA & Europe are affected in many areas as well!

The UN predicts that by 2030, 1.6 billion people will be lacking access to clean drinking water.

We will secure 1000 spring water wells across the world and provide the best drinking water without disrupting the natural circulation of water.

Reviving dehydrated birds was an interesting activity of a friend of mine as a kid. Finding them dehydrated and helpless, he’d pick them up, then sprinkle water on them until they come to. One time, he made a mistake. He doesn’t know how it happened, but it seemed that the bird choked on the water and died. He cried for a long time before burying it.

Sometimes we want to help, but if we use that haste and do the wrong thing, it might end up putting our goodwill in jeopardy. For everything we do, there is a process and it helps a lot when we know the right process to do certain things.

When rehydrating a dehydrated bird, it is important to follow a gentle and controlled approach. Pouring water directly into the bird's mouth or spraying it with a forceful stream can lead to choking or further distress. Instead, offer the bird small sips of water.

Water is a precious resource, and its responsible use is crucial for maintaining a sustainable environment. By employing proper techniques for rehydrating birds, we not only ensure their well-being but also contribute to the conservation of water resources.

Every action we take, no matter how well-intentioned, can have unintended consequences if not approached with care and knowledge. Taking the time to learn and follow the right processes can make a significant difference in our efforts to help both wildlife and the environment.

Why is sustainability important for maintaining nature's harmony?

How can we preserve natural habitats for animals to thrive?

How we secure food is totally different from how other animals secure food, yet they are so much alike. This is an adorable video of a beaver carrying a carrot and pumpkin home, probably to eat them whole later, or make something from them for the entire family. There is something sweet about this, and yet the tiredness and little stops he takes to rest are somewhat sad.

This, however, is not the primary way beavers get food. Beavers are great architects of their environment and primarily obtain food by using their strong teeth to fell trees and create dams. They start by choosing locations along streams or rivers with a steady water supply to build their dams. The selected site usually features a gentle slope to facilitate pond creation. They then collect materials such as branches, twigs, leaves, and mud to construct their dams. The dam's foundation is laid with a combination of larger logs and branches, and beavers weave these materials together, creating a sturdy base that can withstand water pressure.

After building the foundation, they add successive layers of branches, mud, and vegetation. They use their forepaws to pack the materials tightly, ensuring the dam's resilience against water flow. To reinforce the dam, they incorporate rocks or additional logs into the structure. These act as anchors and help prevent erosion. They continually monitor and maintain their dams, instinctively know when repairs are needed, and promptly address breaches or weak points by adding more materials. This shows that they are intelligent beings who know exactly what they are doing. 

These dams they build serve multiple purposes - they create deep ponds that provide an abundant source of aquatic plants, which form a significant part of the beaver's diet. Additionally, the dammed water also helps in creating a safe habitat for fish, which further contributes to the beaver's food supply.

Clean water plays a vital role in the survival of beavers. The construction of dams by these industrious creatures helps maintain a constant water level, ensuring they have access to clean and fresh water throughout the year. Clean water is crucial for their survival as it aids in digestion, hydration, and overall health.

The actions taken by beavers in building dams can teach us valuable lessons about sustainable water management. By creating habitats that support diverse ecosystems and maintaining stable water levels, they contribute to the overall health and balance of their surroundings.

As the guardians of our planet, we should continuously advocate for sustainable practices that ensure access to clean water for all living beings on our planet.

A Rhino can flip a car, but it knows that it doesn’t need that much force to open a pumpkin. That shows that Rhinos are intelligent and demonstrate high problem-solving skills, especially in situations where they encounter obstacles or challenges. They also learn from experience, adapting their behavior based on past encounters. 

Rhino’s horns are made of keratin, the same material as our hairs and nails. This can be surprising because of the various activities that Rhinos carry out with their horns like self-defense, fighting, digging for food and water, and in this case, smashing open a pumpkin. While the white rhinoceros has two horns, the black rhinoceros typically has one.

Rhinos come in five different species: White Rhinoceros, Black Rhinoceros, Indian Rhinoceros, Javan Rhinoceros, and Sumatran Rhinoceros. Rhinos have thick, armor-like skin that protects them from thorns and branches in their natural habitat. Despite their tough appearance, their skin is sensitive and prone to sunburn, leading them to wallow in mud for protection. They also have relatively poor eyesight but compensate with an acute sense of smell. 

The white rhinos can drink up to 72 liters of water daily if there is water available. They also enjoy being in the water to cool off and protect themselves from bugs. 

Rhinos are endangered due to poaching for their horns, habitat loss, and other factors, and conservation efforts are in place to protect and increase their populations, but it is our collective responsibility to ensure that these intelligent beings continue to roam the wild, their might matched only by the resilience of the ecosystems they inhabit. When is the best time to teach kids to develop and maximize their skills?

I’d say as early as possible. Once we figure out where their greatest interest lies, it becomes our duty to provide them with the resources and training needed for them to enjoy what they do. Kids learn and grasp knowledge fast from what they see and what they hear.

Education does not only happen in school. It happens everywhere, and we should be active participants of that in the lives of our kids. It’s never too early for kids to learn about financial freedom, and who better to teach them than the people they look up to the most?

Finding time to rest and gather our thoughts each day is a necessity, not a luxury. We are constantly bombarded with information, responsibilities, and the pressure to be productive but we should remember that it is essential for our well-being and sustainability that we prioritize moments of stillness and reflection.

We don’t know what this monkey is thinking about, but he’s definitely thinking about something. He effortlessly embraced the art of rest. He seems completely at ease, unaffected by the chaos surrounding it. This simple act is a reminder of the importance of taking time for ourselves.

Resting not only rejuvenates our minds but also allows us to reconnect with nature and promote sustainability. When we pause to gather our thoughts, we become more aware of our surroundings and develop a deeper appreciation for the environment. This heightened consciousness can inspire us to make sustainable choices in our daily lives.

Finding time to rest helps prevent burnout and promotes mental well-being. Just as machines require regular maintenance to function optimally, humans need moments of respite to recharge their energy levels. By prioritizing self-care through restful activities such as meditation or spending time in nature, we can enhance our overall productivity while reducing stress levels.

Accountability means that each team member takes responsibility for their tasks and actions, ensuring that the team can achieve its objectives efficiently.

Mutual Respect is important, as team members must value each other's contributions, ideas, and individuality, creating an environment conducive to open communication and constructive conflict resolution.

When we live by these principles, teams can work together in harmony, leveraging one another’s diverse strengths and perspectives to achieve the team’s goals.

Planet vs Plastic - That is the theme for Earth Day 2024. 

It is not news that plastic is destroying our planet. They have infiltrated everywhere. The ocean, our food, the water we drink, and even the air we breathe. Plastics do us more harm than good and the faster we get rid of them, the better and healthier our planet will be. 

Unlike other materials, plastics do not biodegrade. They can take up to 1000 years to fully break down. How many of us are going to be around in a thousand years? Since it does not rot, it keeps building up in our environment until it reaches a point of harm to us. It chokes marine wildlife, contaminates groundwater, damages the soil, causes serious health damage, and reduces the ability of ecosystems to adapt to climate change, thereby directly affecting the livelihood of millions of people. When will this stop?

The largest cause of plastic pollution is the industries and corporations that produce, distribute, and dispose of plastic products. There are a thousand and one ways to make packaging more sustainable and single-use plastics are not one of them. These industries need to do better, and so do individuals. 

In one way or another, we as individuals help these companies to put us at risk. If there is no demand for these items, there will be little or no supply of them. We are currently stuck in an endless and highly destructible loop and the only way we can break out of it is if we all as individuals decide to do better. There are several ways we can start the healing process for our planet:

1. Refuse single-use plastics. 
2. Use reusable bags. 
3. Support plastic-free initiatives. 
4. Participate in clean-up events. 
5. Educate others on the dangers of plastic pollution. 
6. Support and promote initiatives that encourage businesses and governments to prioritize sustainable practices. 
7. Spread awareness!

I believe that we can save and nurture the earth that was left in our care, and it starts with you and me deciding to not only care but to act. This is our home, and only we can decide how we want it to be.
