ML6 exists of 3 parts: consultancy, solutions and platform. Historically, ML6 always focused on consultancy but with the AI market becoming more mature ML6 saw the need to put more standardized solutions in the market. The first solutions are in the computer vision domain since this is the most mature AI technology (see Gartner hype cycle: https://www.gartner.com/en/articles/what-s-new-in-artificial-intelligence-from-the-2023-gartner-hype-cycle). Focused industries are specific subindustries in manufacturing and laboratories.

Salesflare

Salesflare is an intelligent sales platform that automates the whole sales experience. It creates overviews, helps you schedule and lets you work together as a team. 

I helped to prepare the Salesflare team for their official launch at Techcrunch Disrupt 2016 San Fransisco. They wanted to be able to present a trial based product that was bug-free and had perfect UX.

Salesflare can be used as a website,  Gmail plugin, iOS app or Android app.

open Summer of code

Open Summer of code is an organization that gathers around 25 students to work on IT based projects for one month in small teams of 2-5 people. This year I was an Alumni at open Summer of code (this means one already took part in a previous edition of oSoc). 

In this edition I've functioned as an API developer for the Spitsgids project (you can read about it in the projects section of my LinkedIn profile), the project wasn't only about coding, there was a lot of brainstorming, writing, meetings and agreeing on the structure of the project as well.

The project got a lot of media attention and I was able to give interviews for a radio station and several newspapers.

DMI (Digital Management, Inc.)

DMI international (2500 employees) is the company where I was able to perform my Erasmus internship for four months in Barcelona. DMI is a big B2B company that is specialized in mobile end-to-end solutions. In my internship of 4 months, I had two main tasks:

One task was to work together with 3 iOS engineers, to create the Art Basel iOS app. You can read about this project in the project section of my LinkedIn profile.

The other task was my bachelor thesis, which implied improving the continuous integration of the development environment of DMI. This task consists of: doing research to implement unit tests, UI tests and performance tests in the iOS environment, automating all these tests on a Jenkins build server which approves or declines the pushed code, creating code statistics on the Jenkins server to be able to analyze code, improving the build script that runs on the Jenkins server, making sure all of these things were documented and several other smaller tasks. 

I got an 18 out of 20 for this internship combined with my bachelor thesis.

Open Knowledge Belgium

Open Knowledge Belgium is a non-profit organisation that strives for open data in Belgium, mainly at governmental level. My job in this organisation was to create a new brand/website for the general Open Knowledge organisation in Belgium. The website is a CMS, which means that an administrator with no knowledge of coding can change the website himself.

The main goal of this brand/website is to advertise the coming Open Belgium event. The event is all about open data and has a wide range of speakers. 

The second goal of the brand/website will be to become the template for other (smaller) open knowledge organisations and events in Belgium. The template is open data and can therefor easily be reused and adapted to another open data event.

A team of 4 student journalist, another developer and me had to create an interactive article (in one week) for 'De Redactie' which is part of the VRT. The VRT is the biggest media station of Belgium, it has several TV and radio stations.

The article compares the cost of studying in Flanders to the cost of studying abroad. The goal of this interactive article was to prove that we don't pay that much for Flanders high-quality education compared to other countries.

The main goal of this edition of open Summer of code was to create a DCAT validator in 3 weeks. DCAT is a vocabulary that is designed to facilitate interoperability between data catalogs published on the web. To have this interoperability the data has to be written in a correct DCAT format. 

Since it was hard to know if one had written correct DCAT, a DCAT validator had to be created. To have a clearer view of what had to be done, one could compare the project to creating an HTML validator.
