I hate writing. Yeah, you heard me right. Even though I work in SEO, I really hate writing.

That’s why I admire everyone who enjoys it and even turns it into their job.

In my previous roles, my bosses forced me to write articles for agency websites. After my second article, I told my boss that if I had to write one more, I’d just pay someone to do it instead of me. 😅

This year, I started being a bit more active here on LinkedIn and created at least a small habit of writing/practicing through my posts.

Did it help? I’d say the hate turned into not liking it. 😅 I still don’t enjoy it, but at least it’s not the same level of suffering as before.

You might say that nowadays, with all these AI tools, writing is super easy. Yes, it might be! But I write all my posts myself and use AI only for editing because I want to work on and improve my weaknesses.

And that’s why I always tell the copywriters I meet that I admire them. They might not save lives like doctors or firefighters, but they definitely save someone from suffering :)

What do Link Building and LinkedIn Connections have in common?

For me personally, both need to go through a complete analysis and my personal checklist before any request gets accepted.

I review every single request, whether we’re talking about Link Building or LinkedIn Connections.

Here is my Link Building checklist:

From a website perspective:
✅ DR and traffic (yes, I check these factors, but I don’t care whether your DR is 99 or 39, I look at it from a different angle)
✅ Traffic by location
✅ Backlink profile and top-level domains
✅ Topical authority
etc.

From a specific page perspective:
✅ How old the article is and whether it brings any traffic; if it does, where the traffic comes from
✅ How many external links the article already has
✅ Whether there is already a backlink to the same topic
✅ Contextual insertion
✅ Anchor text
etc.

Yes, my list is pretty long and at least 90% of the boxes need to be checked before I accept your LB request. That’s why collaborating with me is not always super easy (some folks could tell you 😄), but it’s crucial for a long-term strategy and consistent growth of my clients.
