A B2B company in Edtech reached out last week.

They needed a HubSpot specialist. Clean up their CRM. Fix their marketing-sales alignment and find a way to escalate those leads to an ABM lead level. Standard 2-month project.

Then they vanished.

Here's what happened:

They thought they had a "CRM analytics problem" but discovered something else entirely.

After working on projects like this repeatedly, I've noticed the same pattern:

→ The CRM isn't broken - the process is
→ Sales teams aren't logging lead data consistently  
→ Marketing and sales use different naming conventions
→ There's no regular pipeline review rhythm

Most companies assume they need a technical fix when they actually need an operational one.

The real solution isn't hiring a HubSpot specialist for 2 months.

It's establishing clear agreements between marketing and sales:

→ Standardized lead qualification criteria
→ Consistent naming conventions across all touchpoints  
→ Weekly pipeline reviews with leadership
→ Bi-weekly sessions with account executives
→ Alignment beween marketing and sales in a way that it enhances your ABM play and sales is not "hungry". 

This is why marketing without sales alignment is just expensive content creation!

You can't solve process problems with platform improvements.

The technical stuff is easy. Getting humans to follow consistent processes? That's where the real work happens.

Companies often realize this halfway through scoping these projects.

Pick 50 companies you actually want to work with.
Research them deeply. Find the real decision makers.
Build relationships before you pitch.

One of my clients went from chasing 500 random leads to focusing on 20 target accounts.
Revenue doubled.

Sales cycle shortened by 2 months.
Everyone was happier.

The hardest part isn't finding more prospects.
It's having the discipline to say no to the wrong ones.
Quality over quantity wins every time.

I had yesterday the pleasure of going to TECH HAPPY HOURS BY TECHNOLOGY INCUBATION and Startup Kitchen which was organized in the #Planetarium in Prague.


 I had the pleasure of talking to a lot of great people who were connected to the space and defense and also start-ups as well.

In that space I was excited to see that there is actually companies who are not only working in tech but also in hardware and we are talking about the SPACE!!! 

Really freaking cool! 

Between people that I've met I would mention a few:

Kateryna Kovtun who works with drones, so she is looking for investment in the defense space. If you're an investor or know someone who invests in the defense space, there is a group of companies who are looking for investment.

Anton Loginov who told me a little bit about his startup. I'm super excited wishing Anton all the best with his work! 

Jean Frédéric MARTIN, a French guy living in Czech Republic, and I had the pleasure of talking to him about robotics and realizing that he's a really good investor, so he taught me a thing or two on what to put my krones. 

Overall it was a great experience, I enjoyed it very much. And I'm super happy to see more events like that organized.

Marketing without sales alignment is just expensive content creation.

Period.

I see this pattern everywhere in B2B.

Marketing creates beautiful content. Sales works their pipeline. Neither talks to the other. No freaking alignment! 

Marketing delivers MQLs, and sales is busy closing and bringing MOney! 

The result? Longer sales cycles, higher acquisition costs, and frustrated teams across the board.

Here's what changes when you align them:

→ Sales cycles shorten because prospects get educated earlier
→ Cost per lead drops when you target the right buyers
→ Revenue becomes predictable instead of hoping for the best

Three steps to fix this mess:

First, create shared metrics both teams actually care about. Not just leads or close rates.

Second, weekly alignment meetings. Sales shares what prospects actually ask. Marketing adjusts accordingly.

Third, give marketing full visibility into your sales process. They need to see what happens after the handoff.

Most founders think marketing and sales are different functions.

They're not. They're two parts of the same revenue engine.
