Creative Account-Based Marketing (ABM) Strategy

I want to experiment with creative ABM because I don't believe Linkedin ads or digital ads are the solution to all demand gen and pipeline velocity problems. 

So here is a short experiment I am going to run:

Objective:

A creative approach to Account-Based Marketing (ABM) by utilizing unconventional methods to engage potential clients and decision-makers.

Key Steps:

Step 1: Identify Target Companies 


Research and select 10-15 companies in your local area (e.g., Prague).
Focus on companies that align with your business goals and values.

Step 2: Identify Decision Makers


Within each target company, identify key decision-makers.
Use LinkedIn or company websites to find relevant contacts.

Step 3: Develop Creative Gift Ideas 


Brainstorm unique gift ideas that reinforce your brand persona:
Send coins with a note encouraging them to toss them into a fountain for luck in closing revenue.
Create and send caricatures of the decision-makers to make a memorable impression.
Design a humorous 'funeral' card for their pipeline, indicating the need for your services.

Step 4: Execute the Gift Sending Campaign 


Prepare the gifts and accompanying messages.
Schedule the sending of gifts to ensure timely delivery.

Step 5: Document the Process


Capture the process on video or through photos to create engaging content.
Plan to share this content on social media to increase visibility.

Step 6: Monitor and Analyze Results 


Track responses and engagement from the decision-makers.
Analyze the effectiveness of the campaign and adjust future strategies accordingly.

↳ Build the relationship before the pitch. 
↳ Let the opportunity emerge naturally from the conversation.

This landed in second place for response rates. People want authentic connections, especially in complex B2B environments.

Anchor your outreach to real-world events

Conferences and industry events are gold for breaking through.

↳ Find attendee lists (many conferences publish these in apps or member portals).
 ↳ Reach out before: "I see you're attending [event]. Let's connect there." 
↳ Follow up after: "Great seeing the [topic] sessions. Want to continue the conversation?" 
↳ The shared context makes you immediately more relevant.

Many of their clients use this as their primary strategy. It works because you're not a random message anymore - you're someone operating in their world.

The mistake most teams make?

They try to be clever when they should be clear. Or they blast generic templates when personal context is right there waiting to be used.

Test these three. Track what resonates with your ICP. Double down on what works.
