In today's competitive talent market, the role of employer branding has never been more critical. While often seen as the domain of HR and Recruitment, successful employer branding requires the strategic and creative talent of marketing. But here's the catch - marketing teams need to truly understand the world of HR and recruitment for this collaboration to shine.

💭 Why Marketing needs to listen to HR & Recruitment:

HR and Recruitment professionals are on the front lines, interacting with potential candidates every day. They understand the questions, concerns, and motivations of these individuals. Inside stories matter! 

Misaligned branding can deter potential candidates. For instance, if marketing portrays a company culture that's innovative and risk-taking, but HR understands the company to be more methodical and stability-oriented, there's a disconnect. 

Such misalignment needs to be avoided, it's a ticking timebomb! 

Candidates interact with a brand in multiple ways across multiple channels - job descriptions, social media, interviews, onboarding and so on. Marketing can ensure the brand's message is consistent, but it has to be the right message! 

🥾 Which steps can you take to ensure success?

In my opinion, HR/Recruitment and Marketing should schedule regular collaborative meetings on a quarterly or even monthly basis to discuss ongoing challenges and opportunities.

Both departments should collaboratively draft a vision for employer branding, ensuring that there's mutual buy-in.

They should also implement systems, such as feedback loops, to get insights and feedback from new hires about their perception during the recruitment process vs. their experience after the onboarding.

And just as marketers create customer personas, candidate personas should get created. Both HR/Recruitment and Marketing need to understand who their candidates are, what motivates them, what they value and how they spend their time on and off work.

Needless to say that it's vital to stay updated with the latest trends in both the Marketing and HR world to ensure the strategies implemented stay relevant and up-to-date.

For an organisation to attract the best talent, the bridge between Marketing and HR/Recruitment simply cannot be made of weak links. By integrating the insights of HR into both employer branding and recruitment marketing strategies, businesses can ensure that their employer brand is not just compelling and attractive, but also authentic.

In the complex and challenging symphony of recruitment, every department plays a crucial note. Let's ensure they all play in harmony! 🎶
