It has always been in my nature to ask "Why?" when presented with anything. I never really outgrew that stage, but the questions have changed. Now they tend to be "Why would we do X, Y, or Z?" and "Why not do things this way and solve that problem?" Then I follow up, producing ERP suites, inventory-management algorithms, databases, A.I. systems, and whatever else people need to "do things this way and solve that problem". Now I build systems to pull in data, quantify and analyze it, and produce forecasts and/or actionable recommendations. Where no new recommendations are needed, I automate processes to free humans from tedious and time-consuming tasks, enabling continuous improvement and crisis management. That sounds pretty general, and that is not because I'm being vague. Where stakeholders collaborate, I have always been able to make improvements or convert data into actionable information. This is true of such diverse areas as inventory optimization, workforce scheduling, logistics, automation in forensics, predictive physics modeling, computational efficiency of software, and image analysis. Every business-process, every industry, every environment, every software-system, and every other system obviously has its idiosyncrasies, and I can manage them. I will not pretend to be an expert in everything. I just learn what I need very, very quickly, whether about the use of specific tools or about the environment and practical task at hand.
